Clark (The Libertarian who did well in Alaska)

Apart from his tax stance, he was basically a liberal.

This has been asked before, but I did vote for Carter. It was as much or more of an anti-Reagan vote than a pro-Carter one. The problem with Carter, which a lot of other voters had at the time, was that I liked what he stood for but was frustrated by his poor performance in office. Democrats in Congress shared the blame for not doing enough to support him, as well, and Ted Kennedy's scorched-earth campaign against him was a travesty. You had the Anderson factor too, with covert support from liberal Democrats getting him into the race to insure Carter's defeat. Everybody was ganging up on Carter, and it made me have more sympathy for him.

This has been asked a zillion times but I've always answered it the same: Reagan.

Jimmy Carter, but I would have supported Kennedy in the primaries.

The charismatic, amiable, and larger than life Reagan.
