William Tudor (ACP-New Wales)

I must concour with Mr. Denoix, allowing Her Majesty the Queen to operate as a "figure" Head of State would prevent the very oppression we have recently eliminated. I must further suggest we apply to be a member of the British Commonwealth, this move does nothing to impede our independence, nothing to favour one ethnicity on our island over another, it would, however, supply us with a vital resource for economic and social recovery. I ask that our members who represent minorities in Antilla to put aside their own racial and social stigmas and accept the fact that recovery in Antilla can not be done alone, and that the British Head of State and membership in the Commonwealth provide the most benefits for recovery.

Gentlemen, can we keep one issue on the table at a time, I will make it known I appreciate Mr. Cooke and the PC's support, but, if Mr. Cooke agrees I would have no issue with confirming an Antillan HOS but also at the same time joining the Commonwealth, I believe this would be acceptable to most if not all the members.

Mr. Khan rises...

So, then, let's take it to a vote. I propose that the Head of State be a nonpartisan Speaker elected by Parliament who only votes to break ties (much like the British model), and that Antillia join the Commonwealth as a republic.

Unless Mr. Cooke objects, I believe this is a fair compromise.

Seconded

I would like to introduce (if only to get us moving again) a motion that our Prime Minister (whenever they come to be) be held accountable, this should be achieved by holding a weekly session (feel free to amend for time and day) of taking questions from the leader of the determined opposition, as well as members of Parliament at large, the neutral speaker will have the increased responsibility of not only keeping the questions and the body in order, but also choosing at random who shall address the PM outside of the Leader of the Opposition (and other significant parties)

To set a base set of numbers to work with:

The Question Time (Proposed name: Prime Minister's Questions) shall be held once a week (OOC: probably over a few days for forum's sake) for 3 days, Tue-Thu, or Fri-Sun, this is to be decided by the PM due to the fact his participation is the most crucial.

The QT will include a minimum 5 questions asked by the Leader of the Opposition, to be responded in turn by the PM, leaving the PM with the final word.

The Speaker may extend this exchange based on judgement of the questions remaining to be asked and time limits.

The Speaker will halt any innapropriate questions (OOC: but not delete them from view) and keep the house commentary to a minimum.

I am in favour of Vice Chair Denoix's stance on Question time, and also do not favour provincial MPs.

Alright everyone calm down, I remove my motion if needed and give someone the opportunity (I have exams tomorrow) to write up a version of the PMQ idea in language they think would be acceptable to all of us, then we can vote on that.
