Eh, I would have been a Democrat since the 1930s at the very least. And New Deal Democrat in the tradition of Roosevelt, Truman and Johnson.

However, 1976 is the last election I would have voted Republican for president, but simply because I think Ford deserved a full term and was more competent than Carter, particulary in foreign policy (would have voted Democratic downballot though, unless the Democrat is an old guard pro-segregation Southerner). The Rockefeller analogy is fitting nontheless, as Nelson Rockefeller is one of my favorite American politicians.
