John F? Tweed? Mike?
One more vote for the Forces of Good, please!

One more vote to get our taxes higher to pay for all the people that will be sentenced to life in prison? Bad idea, vote NAY Senators!
As I have already stated . . . the death penalty is more expensive than housing people for life!!!!!
Though it wouldn't be if it were carried out the StatesRights way.

And the StevenNick way.  Wink

Now this is a bill I needed a bit of consideration on.

I would like for the regions to decide on capital punishment really, just like the states do in real life which urges me to vote nay, but I am very ambivalent of allowing the death penalty to continue.

I hope to have reached a decision by the end of the day.

I have come to a decision, I vote nay on this act, I would like to leave this up to the regions, I also think there should be some exceptions, e.g. terrorism, treason.

No; if they did such, they should rot in jail for the rest of their life thnking about what they have done Smiley

Or, if they're innocent, we have the rest of their life to figure it out Grin

I urge the remaining senators to vote aye. This idea, if left to the regions, will lead to a patchy and incomplete picture. If we are actually attacked by terrorsits, which seems to be the major concern form the opposition, we would have to charge them on a nationwide level.

Please, support this so that our crime and justice system is not pattchy and inefficient, and so that it is harsh but humane.

Humanitarians. Would you want someone who just raped your wife or daughers and took a knife to the throats of your entire family to live a easy life in prison?

With Michael Z's vote coming in the Death Penalty Abolition Act has passed the Senate by six votes to three. It now awaits the President's signature.

Since when did abondoning a time-honored tradition of bringing justice to the depraved become a prerequisite for becoming a civilized nation?

Thank you to all who supported this. It is a marvellous day for all atlasians, when we join the ranks of nations who are harsh but hmane, who recognise and punish injustice but who do not inflict it themselves.

Again, thank you. You will be remembered as progressors, and the future will be brighter because of you.

Savages are those who kill.

Either way, it's been passed, lets move on into a better future.

This Senate is very strange, it votes to restrict abortion, a Conservative wedge issue, and then a few weeks later votes to ban the death penalty, something almost all Republicans and most Moderates support. Unless it's part of the whole "Life" thing, but there are a lot of pro-life pro- death penalty people.

A fiture that will not be granted to millions each year because thier lives are destroyed on a whim before they even have a chance.

It seems the Atlas has different wedge issues than the United States of America. Smiley
