I find this really interesting because you always hear Conservatives (and ex-liberals) complain about how they don't feel welcome in Democrat spaces because they're too left wing, ideologically pure, ect, and then try and downplay "actually Republicans aren't racist/sexist/xenophobic anymore".
What sparked this thread is this debate on Jubilee:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Js15xgK4LIEBasically there are 20 Conservatives/MAGAs sitting in a circle taking turns to debate "Progressive" Sam Seder on hot-button issues. Many clips have gone viral on social media recently
And it's just striking. At one point, one of the Trump supporters is straight up arguing gay marriage should be illegal. A few minutes later a gay Trump supporter comes up and asks his fellow MAGAs to raise they're hand if they'd have a problem with 2 men kissing in public, and in fact a majority of them appear to, but he just brushes it off as "whatever".
Another example - one of the Trump supporters goes up and basically says America shouldn't be a melting pot and we need to bring back white Christian nationalism and need bring back a "dominant European culture", and the body language of several of the Trump supporters in the audience make it very clear they agree with her- but mind you a good share of the Trump supporters on this video are non-white. And ironically the girl making this argument is actually an immigrant herself.
We've also seen it happen in the public arena - look what happened to Vivek during the media cycle about H1B Visas.
Why do so many of these non-white, or LGBTQ Trump supporters just not seem to care? Do they think these voices are just an unserious minority in the party and so they don't really need to worry? Do they think that somehow by being MAGA, they'll be immune? Like I'm genuinely curious to the psychology of what's going on, and why many seem to even view intolerance on the left as a bigger issue?
And it's not like they're calling it out, but by and large from what I've seen they're not and just tolerate it.
