Guys, what you're forgetting is that 9/11 changed everything.

Not to make sure that she's safe, but just to make sure that they still love each other.  Because the act of riding in a plane can somehow lead to a decrease in marital bliss???

Rudy Giuliani has zero chance of becoming the 44th President of the United States. Even if he somehow is able to win the primary, there is no way the American public is going to be able to put up with "9/11 this" and "9/11 that" for 9 straight months.

Debates? I'm thinking more along the lines of the convention speech. I'm sure there they'll be a few drinking games involved with that one.

Well, to be honest, the excuse isn't 9/11.  It's because his wife was flying.  However, she could have easily called 30 minutes earlier before his speech and it wouldn't have been an issue.

you're obviously missing the point of this exercise: Giuliani would have still found some way to bring in 9/11.

Yes, and you are assuming that it was for political reasons.  I know many people who make calls before and after their flight to ease the minds of loved ones because of 9/11.

Too bad for Hillary that her drinking buddy McCain probably won't get the nomination.

jesus I thought the headline was a joke. If this guy was caught in a hotel room with both a live boy and a dead girl he would find some way to justify it because of 9/11

I used to admire the guy for his post 9/11 leadership, but the way he has exploited that has really got annoying

Mitt Romney: Smooth, charismatic speaker who was a success in business and politics.
Rudy Giuliani: Running on 9/11; supports abortion and gun control.

I still think Romney will win either Iowa or NH, or both, and then sweep to the nomination. Regardless of the national polls, it's hard to imagine the GOP nominating a socially liberal Mayor from New York.

Before 9/11....actually before he began running for president....Rudy was one of the Democrats' favorite Republicans.  Now that he *does* have a chance at becoming president, they all hate him.  Roll Eyes

That was also before he started pandering to all the conservative groups that Democrats obviously hate, in order to potentially win the nomination.

John McCain has also gone exactly the same way; i.e. a relatively high approval rating from Democrats until about two years ago.

Yes, because, clearly, absolutely nothing has changed between then and now.

I guess before it was public knowledge that Giuliani strongly supports torture, secret military tribunals, expanded executive power, etc., he might have seemed briefly appealing.

I wouldn't consider Giuliani to be socially liberal.

The fact that he is considered that shows how warped the political spectrum is seen by many in the United States.

He'd be socially liberal by Irish standards.
