The article is free to read if you consent to personalised advertising; the Daily Mail has been increasingly gotten into the habit of paywalling their exclusive articles, but this isn't one of them. Starmer is +41 among Republicans, compared to Netanyahu's +37, Trudeau's +30 (!), Sheinbaum's +8 (!!!), Milei's +6, Zelensky's -4, Putin's -26, and Kim's -51. More detailed crosstabs are not available yet, but JLP are in the habit of regularly publishing theirs; I will let you know when I see them.

I'm skeptical of its sincerity as many of the hardcore types that are represented by the GOP primarily get their news from sources such as Breitbart & OANN. But this could be an interesting window into some of the "softer" types who are either reluctant Trump voters but not supporters or those who still identify as a Republican but haven't supported or voted for it in years. Also I'm guessing since it's out of the UK then I assume that a larger share are probably but not necessarily dual citizens, or at least are interested in international news which would make them more likely to be college educated, something that the GOP has moved away from in recent cycles.

Roll to disbelieve that 41% of Republicans have heard of Keir Starmer.

I don't believe for a second that Trudeau is +30 with Republicans.

Which would be true for any British PM post-Blair, but Starmer is probably the least interesting one since...would require one of the Brits to cite a forgotten PM here. Starmer almost seems like a lab creation for "uninteresting politician", which arguably was one of his strengths last election.

Starmer is legendarily boring! He never dreams, has no favorite book or poem, and cannot remember any childhood fears.

A mutual acquaintance once revealed some detail of his personal life which would have made for a somewhat scandalous headline in an election campaign, but even that was just a bit pathetic and, from a distance, boring.

Both of which are of course demographics Democrats probably have to make some inroads with if they want to do well in the midterms.

Sheinbaum favorables are the most shocking of the cross tabs on foreign leaders. She’s ideological far from the positions of Donald Trump. Starmer is pretty conservative at least, if not in the MEGA vein.
