Lol imagine going back to 2017 and telling someone that Trump & the GOP are going to become one of the biggest backers and promoters of Teslas.

The Trump supporter in my life has suddenly decided we need to switch over to Starlink, even though our Internet is fine, in addition to the Tesla Powerwall they got despite being a vehement climate change denier. Tongue

Virtue signaling. This must be so embarrassing for the Bannon wing.

Reminiscent of the time liberals were calling for a boycott of Home Depot and Ben Shapiro decidedly to epicly own the libs by posting a video of a himself holding a plank of wood he bought there.

Tesla needs to fire Elon ASAP. I think they will eventually, but it will take too long, so any goodwill they might have gotten for getting rid of him will be lost due to the slowness.

It won’t make a difference, yes Musk is running Tesla into the ground, but he’s also the only reason it’s the success it is, and honestly Tesla would simply collapse a little slower in Europe without his stupidity.

I don't think that is true. Model Y and Model 3 are very good value for money in the EV market and the Tesla chargeer infrastructure is unparallelled. These cars are very good buys if you don't have to swallow supporting Musk's insanity.

At least they will currently probably get a small number of sales to Trump supporters who buy a Tesla in order to trigger the libs. Whereas if they fire Musk, then Tesla will also lose any of those sorts of customers in addition to the ones they already lost. Their best bet from a business perspective at this point is probably to just double down and go full culture warrior, and try to make Teslas into a right wing symbol like the red hats or the swastikas.

I think this particular weird claim is mostly a result of his brain degenerating into soup as suggested by the rest of this posat. The impulse to call anything he doesn't like a crime is still a reflection of his dangerous authoritarian tendencies, but he would not be saying things like this if his faculties were still there.

Trump is pro whoever is paying him for access. He doesn't have any actual policy positions.

Tesla stocks is vastly overvalued, and the stock is the main value of Tesla. Even if we imagined that Tesla could stay competitive on the European market and wouldn’t be boycotted (which it still would as a American brand) without Musk, it doesn’t change the fact that Tesla stock is ridiculous overvalued and that’s 100% because of Musk. Also I don’t drive a Tesla myself, but it’s pretty clear that Tesla suffer under shoddy construction with as example almost 1/4 Tesla failing vehicle inspection in Denmark compared to around 1/10 of other EVs.

I know a lot of people are happy about their Tesla’s but you regularly hear nightmare stories you rarely hear about other car brands,

As a thank you for Trump's emoluments, retard commits to producing twice as many unsellable death traps in the next two years.

The President declaring that boycotting his top advisor's company is illegal isn't fascism?

Cracking down on people who harass Tesla employees and destroy their property is not fascism.

The problem is that the inflated share price is also entirely due to Musk fans buying up the stock at absurd prices, so if Musk is fired, the share price will tank even more than it already has as the Musk fans sell and no one else wants to buy. I agree that if Tesla is to remain a long-term going concern, it needs to divest itself of Musk, but there are conflicting priorities for the board given that, despite the recent decline, much of the perceived value of the company by investors is still Musk-related.

If Tesla stock drops below $100/share so that the Musk premium is mostly gone, especially if it starts getting to a more reasonable range in the low-mid double digits, expect to see the knives come out.

The main problem of promoting Teslas to MAGAs is that the infrastructure for.EVs is not great in rural parta of the country and there are notorious problems in cold weather. Is some MAGA cultist farmer in Iowa really going to buy a cybertruck?

Ultimately, this is the market they need. Anywhere where there are a lot of Democrats is a place where driving a Tesla will subject you to road rage, vandalism and menacing hatred. That limits the market to true hardcore cultists. It seems that more typical Trump voters who drive Teslas in liberal places would prefer to trade it in at this point..

If I was a Tesla owner (I would never be one because of security issues surrounding their product line, Musk's politics don't influence this) and I caught someone trying to vandalize my car, I would very likely calmly explain my position (I hate what DOGE is doing, Musk as a political figure is awful, that doesn't influence my car decisions, I voted for Harris/Walz) and ask they go away. If they make one more move in that direction I would immediately call the cops if I could.

Vandalizing Teslas is illegal and people caught in the act should meet the full force of the law. Organized vandalizing of Teslas is in fact some form of terrorism.

No matter what Trump says about them most MAGA isn’t buying one. Most are going into great debt to buy a $70k pickup truck they barely use for its intended purposes.
