Isn't it easier to sister souljah people who say they hate you than it is to sister souljah people who say they love you?

Not really, no.  In a way, it brings more negative attention to the Democratic Party, and makes it appear like a group that doesn't have its entire act together.  It causes moderate voters to wonder how far Democrats claiming to be moderate will go to placate the left wing.

Both parties are better off when differences are covered over.

For some reason, it never seems to work. Democrats are always held responsible for all the craziest things leftists say, even though those same leftists actually hate the Democratic Party, while Republicans are always given the benefit of the doubt, even though some of their craziest people are currently in The White House.

Part of the problem is that for a while, up until recently, SJWs held prominent positions in education, business, media, and behind-the-scenes political activism. It didn't really matter if a Democrat claimed to be opposed to woke race-baiting or segregation because all those people in power would still enforce all their views on us by other means. Didn't matter if Democrats claimed to oppose censorship because corporations like Disney would still censor their catalogue of old films and shows if activists told them too. And by the way, I'm being too charitable to Democrats here because the Dems were much more likely to go along with anything these people told them to than they were to fight back against them.

This is why left-wing social issues are an easier attack on Democrats. No one even thinks they're interested in left-wing economic arguments, so we rarely hear about it anymore.

Exactly. I suppose it's due to the treatment of the mainstream media, which - contrary to public belief - holds Democrats to much higher standards. And also because Democrats are more likely to apply facts and logic and therefore are more open to even address the criticism instead of forcefully pushing back. Republicans never surrender an inch or admit that they were wrong, which somehow seems to give them an image of being fighters.

The "defund the police" stuff is a prime example here, which greatly hurt Democrats in 2020. But the only ones who were advocating for it were some fringe, random leftists that were either terminally online or turned legitimate protests into riots. Meanwhile, no rank and file Democrat ever endorsed the idea; Biden even called for increased funding and presented a position paper with Bernie. So even Bernie wasn't on board with this idea, yet Democrats became associated with it. Meanwhile, Trump's cultists attacked the capitol police and beat them with flag poles, but convicted felon Donald Trump is considered to be the "pro law enforcement" candidate.

This is untrue . Cities across the countries cut policies budgets , stopped prosecuting a various amount of crimes and that was a direct result of the summer of 2020 .
