Why they never really coherently went after how big of a moron the guy is before is beyond me. The GOP made this the message about Biden essentially from day 1.

He’s old but he doesn’t seem senile to me. I think there are far more compelling things to hit him on

Biden’s age became the biggest line of attack not only because he acted older, but because he was a relatively quiet, uncontroversial president.

It's just not going to work like it did with Biden. It's better to just focus on his incompetence and broken promises.

I have parents who are older than Trump, and my father is overweight and suffer from diabetes, anyone who think Trump’s behavior is normal for a man his age is out of their mind. Trump has always been weird, but what we have seen the last few years is vastly worse than Trump just a few years ago.

They really tried to make this a campaign issue in September to Election Day. It didn’t work.

Talk about how erratic and out of touch he is, and connect it back to how little he’s trying to lower the price of housing and essential groceries/goods. Along with all the chaos and uncertainty in general. Musk’s role has really rubbed a lot of people the wrong way too.

They usually rely on the late night hosts for this kind of thing, but after the past ten years they're all pretty neutered and everyone is listening to edgy podcasts instead.

I was discussing this on one of those chat server thingies with a former forum member the other day, and he made the observation that while Trump's cognitive degeneration is an observable fact, present political conditions mean that it isn't something the Democrats can really start the ball rolling over, even if, once it does, they should absolutely get on board.

It already has been a big focus for us, but of course, the media isn't giving it the same treatment they gave the "Biden has dementia" myth.

Biden wasn't senile, just really old but that didn't stop Republicans from claiming he was a drooling doddering senile fool.

I say Dems do the same with the orange blob in the White House.

It is somewhat hard to call out because it is very clearly the new normal. It is hard to think about the 2020 Democratic primary and not come to the conclusion that, at least in that (relatively recent) media environment, it was an outright advantage, at least for PR. (Obviously not for governing).

I, for one, am not convinced that the winner in 2028 won't also be senile.

Yes! Let’s do the exact same proven  failed strategy about the guy who just did the longest address to congress in history(beating Clinton by about 20 minutes).

It will work this time.

Trump doesn’t seem old or senile to people because he doesn’t act his age, and is hyper as hell. He’s giving over hour long pressers when he doesn’t really have too. I guess having ADHD has helped him and yes, he likely has that. The man is fidgety AF when sitting and has trouble sleeping;Granted I assume the sugar is also not helping with that.

Still lol'ing that you sat through hours of that verbal diarrhea and are still proud you voted for this disaster. What a mess.

Trump isn't senile because he "doesn't have energy." It's the fact that nothing he says or does is tethered to reality.

None of that matters. Trump could end up like Reagan(who was 1000X worse than the media let on)in his 2nd term when he was out for lunch and he still will only be compared to Biden, his predecessor who quite frankly looked like sh*t. He constantly  had that dumb, confused look on his face, tripping over himself numerous times. FFS, the man introduced a dead Indiana representative like two days after her death which both the WH and POTUS account on Twitter had acknowledged prior.

If anything Reagan proved that you can be sundowning and still be lauded as “One of the greatest Presidents ever” by both liberals and conservatives all because of having a really funny sense of humor/wit which is why the “senile” talking point hasn’t really been able to stick to Trump and probably never will.

I think this attack only works if you argue his senility allows him to be taken advantage of by other, nefarious actors.

Tell voters that the reason they aren't able to make a call to the Social Security Administration or visit a National Park is because Elon was able to dupe the senile old man into allowing them to gut those administrations to pay for his tax cuts.

Blah blah blah. You voted for this disaster and that will go down as one of your biggest L's ever. Dress it up and tell yourself as many lies as it takes to make you feel better about it.

Yes, Trump is concerning not just from the low standards of him being Trump, but because the fact that he has decayed from that into who he is now and it will only grow worse

Are you seriously trying to argue that an old man rambling in an incoherent and at times completely incomprehensible manner for a very long period of time is evidence against the thesis that he is senile?

Uh, Musk? Lol, the attack writes itself.

As for the people upthread arguing about his energy levels compared to Biden: true, but that doesn't negate why Dems haven't made Trump's stupidity the number one mockery. That'd get you a lot farther than trying to debate "issues" with the American public, who obviously don't care about actual issues at a more than superficial level.

It's because they know it would expose them to attacks about covering up Biden's decline.
