It is deeply, deeply weird that you've made your entire posting personality into ceaseless negativity about a group of people who have done you no harm other than make fun of you on an elections blog.

Pandering usually works better if you pander to people who could vote for you, instead of pandering to people who will never vote for you while pissing off people who might

This sentence just doesn't align with the overwhelming amount of polling data and voting results on this issue.

He gets no points for saying something that anyone with a functioning brain understands to be true.

I have nothing aganist trans people. I just don't think biological males who went through male puberty should play women sports, like 79% of Americans.

For god's sake, trans people are just trying to live their lives

They're not trying to cheat you out of an athletic scholarship, or trick you into sleeping with them, or stalk you in the bathroom. What the hell is wrong with people?

And that probably was the highlight of your week. I really don't care what you think because we've never been friends and never will be. I don't seek friendship on this board.

With that said my point was that demonizing people leads to violence. Sure it starts with sports but if you give the devil an inch he will take a whole mile eventually.

I don't normally defend Newsom, but anti trans people don't proclaim a "Transgender Day of Remembrance".

I'm surprised that Charlie Kirk has become such a boogieman. He's really the bottom of the barrel as far as conservative "intellectuals" go. For a couple years, Kirk was seen as an easy slam dunk victory for left-of-center commentators that wanted to break into the political debate game, but that was before the left completely disengaged from any kind of political discourse.

Newsom is bad and dangerous because his government of California is bad and toxic, but the man himself despises Republicans. This isn't like modern-day TYT sitting down with rightwingers and agreeing with everything they say. Newsom can probably hold his own in these conversations.

Red states around the country are looking at banning gender affirming care, in at least one case for all adults.

The debate on whether this ridiculous non-issue was a canard for further erosion of trans rights is over, because it's already happening.

Speaking as one of those """biological males""" you cisgenders are always yammering on about, even I don't think being a normie voter and falling for the lowest-hanging fruit of cis ideology necessarily means you'll want to reach for the top.

This sentence just doesn't align with the overwhelming amount of polling data and voting results on this issue.

How do the two groups on those issues split in the overwhelming amount of uncited polling data you speak of?

Because if it's so overwhelming, Dems should never ever win an election in this country, right?

Unless there's people who don't really care a lot about the topic who vote on other issues and the people with the most passionate anti-trans viewpoints are never voting D anyways

It's not really about scholarships, it's just that millions of Americans think it really and truly matters who wins and loses in high school sports, and thus those with advantages shouldn't be allowed to play.

I don't personally agree that it matters who wins in high school, but we have to meet people where they are. And when we get to the point that Americans would literally elect Trump back into the White House over this issue, isn't it better to tell a few dozen athletes that we're really sorry but they just can't play on a team?

It's not about "compromise" with Republicans who want to eradicate trans people altogether, it's about meeting people in the middle who aren't really Republicans but feel so strongly about the sports issue that they vote that way. I would never compromise on basic rights like housing or employment discrimination, but I just don't think it's a violation of someone's rights to not get to play on a high school sports team.

California is the 5th largest economy in the world. Where is Nebraska? California isn't perfect but it certainly is better run than some other states.

You make a good point, but I also don't think it'll stop at high school sports. I don't think the people animated by this issue are looking for a compromise; they're looking for a scapegoat.

Imagine having Gavin Newsom on your podcast and talking about sports when you could be talking about wine and restaurants.

being pro-choice and various gun control viewpoints poll really well... yet you never see Rs pandering to those groups and they still manage to get enough pro-choice/pro-gun control people to vote for people who are anti-choice and anti-gun control

Growth doesn't mean much when people move to a state because it's cheap. Moving to a state like that is a last resort not a power move.

The GOP has multiple pro-choice Senators and Trump stated he would not sign an abortion ban. Try again.

This "issue" was also completely made up out of whole cloth in the last two years.

We had one example where a trans volleyball player went two years without her teammates or other teams caring about it... then all of a sudden this past season when the far-right started the culture war she was targeted and an assistant coach threw her under the bus. Again, two years, no issues.

Admitting that males and females go through puberty differently is not demonizing them.
Sure, but as Runeghost said, demonizing puberty blockers and then reminding us everywhere we go of the "shame" (scare quotes because there's nothing to be ashamed of, it just ing hurts to live with) of having initially gone through the wrong puberty does definitely have a similar effect to the demonization that trans people already go through, even if it's lower-hanging fruit.
