Masters did double digits worse than Trump 2024, and somehow made even Lake (who everyone now thinks is a very weak candidate) look like a super strong candidate. Arguably, his performance is even worse than Mastriano's, because his 10.4% underperformance over Trump 2024 wasn't that much lower than Mastriano's 13.1%, and Masters was in a federal race while Mastriano was in a gubernational race, and federal races are a lot more polarized than gubernational races.

I'm pretty sure Majewski underperformed by even more.

Finchem was pretty bad as well.

But that wasn't a congressional race.

Yeah, tbf that was an area with more downballot lag + a strong D incumbent...but still, he lost by 13 points in a district that broke for Trump by 3 in 2020 and 7 in 2024, aka an undperformance of around 20 points if comparing to 2024! (Fwiw, Kaptur's 2024 opponent brought it down to a wire, 48.1-47.8%.)

I mean he would have lost even without Toledo. By far the worst competitive national race of the year.

Just Toledo proper, or do you mean the entirety of Lucas County?

I would argue that ‘honor’ goes to Dr. Oz
Oz at least looks like an electoral titan compared to Mastriano.

True, but he also had a much easier opponent than Masters did.

That race was always viewed as Safe R. Dewine was very popular.
