Cool, though fairly typical "rebellious" song

Typical? It's classic. It's Robert Zimmerman.

LOL, Well that tells you how much I pay attention to the music buffs\the Mainstream (I had to look up Robert Zimmerman too, not ashamed too admit that) and despite that I still maintain what I said about the lyrics. Dylan's never really my type of thing anyway...

Awesome game and final battle.

Will you come and what will I say
Oh I have been so distant and unhappy
Like I could disappear

When I was a boy I saw things
That no one else could see
So why am I so blind at twenty-two
To the hope that is all around me
Filling up this room

On the road on my own
Waiting for the words to fall from your tongue
Into my ears

When I was a boy I could hear
Symphonies in seashells
So why am I so deaf at twenty-two
To the sound of the driving snow
That drives me home to you

Again.. whiny.  The song could be shortened to the following, and get the same point across:

"I'm just like every other 22 year old, except I write songs about it in an effort to make money off of other 22 year olds.  I wear make up."

O Fortuna
velut luna
statu variabilis,
semper crescis
aut decrescis;
vita detestabilis
nunc obdurat
et tunc curat
ludo mentis aciem,
egestatem,
potestatem
dissolvit ut glaciem.

Sors immanis
et inanis,
rota tu volubilis,
status malus,
vana salus
semper dissolubilis,
obumbrata
et velata
michi quoque niteris;
nunc per ludum
dorsum nudum
fero tui sceleris.

Sors salutis
et virtutis
michi nunc contraria,
est affectus
et defectus
semper in angaria.
Hac in hora
sine mora
corde pulsum tangite
quod per sortem
sternit fortem,
mecum omnes plangite

That part is not true.

As for that song, I don't like lyrics in languages I can't understand, especially dead languages.

this is our party-
we pick the records-
we set the dresscode.
and make love on the dance floor.
like it or not we're the
only game in town!

So typical of BRTD - and unlike some of his other bands this one shows no real talent at lyrics.

Take the national express when your lifes in a mess
Itll make you smile
All human life is here
From the feeble old dear to the screaming child
From the student who knows that to have one of those
Would be suicide
To the family man
Manhandling the pram with paternal pride
And everybody sings ba ba ba da...
Were going where the air is free
On the national express theres a jolly hostess
Selling crisps and tea
Shell provide you with drinks and theatrical winks
For a sky-high fee
Mini-skirts were in style when she danced down the aisle
Back in 63 (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
But its hard to get by when your arse is the size
Of a small country
And everybody sings ba ba ba da...
Were going where the air is free
Tomorrow belongs to me
When youre sad and feeling blue
With nothing better to do
Dont just sit there feeling stressed
Take a trip on the national express

Neil Hannon is a very talented chap, and I've always strongly approved of the line:

But its hard to get by when your arse is the size
Of a small country

Grin

These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Some day you'll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And you'll no longer burn
To be brothers in arms

Through these fields of destruction
Baptisms of fire
I've watched all your suffering
As the battles raged higher
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms

There's so many different worlds
So many differents suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones

Now the suns gone to hell
And the moons riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But it's written in the starlight
And every line on your palm
Were fools to make war
On our brothers in arms

Reminds me of what is called "Engfish"

Johnny has a dream to make the scene
Where all he has to do is make girls scream
Unbuckling his belt will surely make them melt
Turning butter into cream

For now, he's an unknown who's content to take orders
Stocking magazines, turning fives into quaters
Soon he'll make them see that he's got what it takes
When they get a look at his 14 inch snake

He's got a job in a porno shop, where he mops up for free
Oh, it may suck now, but he knows somehow
He'll see his face on a T.V. screen

Well, I do say, 14 inches is a bit short for a snake, isn't it?  What kind is it?  A Gardner Snake?

Here's a song my sister made for our cat:

Orange Fur
Pink Skin
Freckled Face

A little harsh, don't you think?

She gave you everything she had
But she was young and dumb
She'd just turned twenty-one
She didn't care to hang around
So when the sh*t came down
Why, she was nowhere to be found
This life can turn a good girl bad
She was the sweetest thing
That you had ever seen

You're such a delicate boy
In the hysterical realm
Of an emotional landslide
In physical terms

With your cherry lips and golden curls
You could make grown men gasp
When you'd go walking past them
In your hot pants and high heels
They could not believe
That such a body was for real
It seemed like rainbows would appear
Whenever you came near the clouds would disappear
Because you looked just like a girl
Your baby blues would flash
And suddenly a spell was cast

You hold a candle in your heart
You shine the light on hidden parts
You make the whole world wanna dance
You bought yourself a second chance

Go baby go go
We're right behind you
Go baby go go
Yeah we're looking at you
Go baby go go
Aw, we're right behind you
Go baby
Go baby
Yeah we're looking at you
Go

Erotica.

BEWARE - EXPLICIT CONTENT

I was lonelier than Kunta Kinte at a Merle Haggard concert
That night I strolled on into Uncle Limpy's Hump Palace lookin' for love.
It had been a while.
In fact, three hundred and sixty-five had come and went
since that midnight run haulin' hog to Shakey Town on I-10.
I had picked up this hitchhiker that was sweatin' gallons
through a pair of Daisy Duke cut-offs and one of those Fruit Of The Loom tank-tops.
Well, that night I lost myself to ruby red lips,
milky white skin and baby blue eyes.
Name was Russell.

Chorus:
Yes, a lap dance is so much better when the stripper is cryin'
Yes, a lap dance is so much better when the stripper is cryin'
Well I find it's quite a thrill
When she grinds me against her will
Yes a lap dance is so much better when the stripper is cryin'

Well, faster than you can say, "shallow grave",
this pretty little thing come up to me and starts kneadin' my balls
like hard-boiled eggs in a tube sock.
Said her name was Bambi and I said, "Well that's a coincidence darlin',
'cause I was just thinkin' about skinnin' you like a deer."
Well she smiled, had about as much teeth as a Jack-O-Lantern,
and I went on to tell her how I would wear her face like a mask
as I do my little kooky dance.
And then she told me to shush.
I guess she could sense my desperation.
'Course, it's hard to hide a hard-on when you're dressed like Minnie Pearl.

Chorus

So, Bambi's goin' on about how she can make all my fantasies come true.
So I says, "Even this one I have where Jesus Christ
is jackhammering Mickey Mouse in the doo-doo hole
with a lawn dart as Garth Brooks gives birth to something
resembling a cheddar cheese log with almonds on Santa Claus's tummy-tum?"
Well, ten beers, twenty minutes and thirty dollars later
I'm parkin' the beef bus in tuna town if you know what I mean.
Got to nail her back at her trailer.
Heh. That rhymes.
I have to admit it was even more of a turn-on
when I found out she was doin' me to buy baby formula.

Chorus

Day or so had passed when I popped the clutch,
gave the tranny a spin and slid on into
The Stinky Pinky Gulp N' Guzzle Big Rig Snooze-A-Stop.
There I was browsin' through the latest issue of "Throb",
when I saw Bambi starin' at me from the back of a milk carton.
Well, my heart just dropped.
So, I decided to do what any good Christian would.
You can not imagine how difficult it is to hold a half gallon of moo juice
and polish the one-eyed gopher when your doin' seventy-five
in an eighteen-wheeler.
I never thought missing children could be so sexy.
Did I say that out loud?

Chorus

I HATE that song.

We're gonna die when the sun comes up
We'll drink until we drop
my blood is 100 proof
we're gonna stumble twist and crawl
99 bottles of beer on the wall
I'd rather drink than f'uck

No doubt about it I cant live with out it
No doubt about it I cant live with out it alcohol, alcohol

it is my destiny

You've got the beer we've got the time
You've got the coke gimme a line

No doubt about it I can't live with out it
No doubt about it I can't live with out it alcohol, alcohol

We're gonna die when the sun comes up
We'll drink until we drop
I'd rather drink than f'uck
You've got the beer we've got the time
You've got the coke gimme a line

No doubt about it I cant live with out it

... while it makes me laugh. Grin

Yours... is very good for a drinking song (not a particularly inspiring genre, that, though). I wonder if they meant 200proof though.

Was hab ich falsch gemacht?
Ich dachte, du wärst glücklich
Was hab ich falsch gemacht?

Was hab ich falsch gemacht?
Ich dachte, wir wärn glücklich
Was hab ich falsch gemacht?
Ich hab dich doch wirklich geliebt

Warum hast du mich verlassen?
Warum, warum um alles in der Welt?
Warum hast du mich verlassen?
Ich hab dir gestern erst was zu trinken hingestellt
Die Fenstergitter durchgefeilt
Dein gebrochener Arm ist wohl doch schon verheilt
Grad wollt ich dir neue Strapse schenken
Was solln denn jetzt die ganzen Freier denken

Was hab ich falsch gemacht?
Ich dachte, du wärst glücklich
Was hab ich falsch gemacht?
Ich hab dich doch wirklich-
Ich werd dich finden, darauf kannst du dich verlassen
Einfach verschwinden, das könnte dir so passen
Ich werd dich finden, darauf kannst du dich verlassen
Einfach verschwinden, das könnte dir so passen

Irgendwas hab ich falsch gemacht
Irgendwas hab ich falsch gemacht

Translation:

Why did you desert me? [not a perfect fit but I can't find one right now - sorry]
I came home and you just were gone
Why did you desert me?
No parting letter, not a single word
I find it hard to understand
How could you just up and leave?

I have loved you in the sweat of my brow
Now you're gone and I'm facing nothingness

What have I done wrong?
I thought you were happy
What have I done wrong?
I truly loved you

Why did you desert me?
I was always, always there for you
Why did you desert me?
Except when I happened to be with some other woman
I didn't beat you more than is customary
And only when you got cheeky
I'm really sorry about what happened to your eye that one time
It was an accident, I didn't really mean it

What have I done wrong?
I thought we were happy
What have I done wrong?
I truly loved you

Why did you desert me?
Why, oh why in the world?
Why did you desert me?
I brought you something to drink only yesterday
You filed through the window bars
Seems like your broken arm has fully healed already after all
I was just going to give you a new garter belt
What are all the johns going to think?

What have I done wrong?
I thought you were happy
What have I done wrong?
I truly -
I'm going to find you, count on it
Disappearing just like that, that's what you'd like
I'm going to find you, count on it
Disappearing just like that, that's what you'd like

I must have done something wrong
I must have done something wrong

It's not your fault.  It's not your fault.  It's not your fault.  It's not your fault.

Oh, and in this case, "verlassen" would be better translated as "Why did you leave me?"

Riding on the City of New Orleans,
Illinois Central Monday morning rail
Fifteen cars and fifteen restless riders,
Three conductors and twenty-five sacks of mail.
All along the southbound odyssey
The train pulls out at Kankakee
Rolls along past houses, farms and fields.
Passin' trains that have no names,
Freight yards full of old black men
And the graveyards of the rusted automobiles.

CHORUS:
Good morning America how are you?
Don't you know me I'm your native son,
I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans,
I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done.

Dealin' card games with the old men in the club car.
Penny a point ain't no one keepin' score.
Pass the paper bag that holds the bottle
Feel the wheels rumblin' 'neath the floor.
And the sons of pullman porters
And the sons of engineers
Ride their father's magic carpets made of steel.
Mothers with their babes asleep,
Are rockin' to the gentle beat
And the rhythm of the rails is all they feel.

CHORUS

Nighttime on The City of New Orleans,
Changing cars in Memphis, Tennessee.
Half way home, we'll be there by morning
Through the Mississippi darkness
Rolling down to the sea.
And all the towns and people seem
To fade into a bad dream
And the steel rails still ain't heard the news.
The conductor sings his song again,
The passengers will please refrain
This train's got the disappearing railroad blues.

Good night, America, how are you?
Don't you know me I'm your native son,
I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans,
I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done.

A song about places I never want to go to.

Promise... Leaving... Isn't loving... Leaving... Isn't loving... I wish I could tell you without crying.

Yawn. Typical Stuff. Though I guess I need to listen to it Musically first.

As for my entry, I took this one from the Republican "Values Voters" debate - this is what they sung instead of the nation anthem.

GOD BLESS AMERICA

Why should God bless America?
She’s forgotten he exists
And has turned her back
On everything that made her what she is.

Why should God stand beside her
Through the night with the light from his hand?
God have mercy on America
Forgive her sin and heal our land

The courts ruled prayer out of our schools
In June of ‘62
Told the children “you are your own God now
So you can make the rules”
O say can you see what that choice
Has cost us to this day
America, one nation under God, has gone astray

Why should god bless America?
She’s forgotten he exists
And has turned her back on everything
That made her what she is

Why should God stand beside her
Through the night with the light from his hand?
God have mercy on America
Forgive her sins and heal our land

In ‘73 the Courts said we
Could take the unborn lives
The choice is yours don’t worry now
It’s not a wrong, it’s your right

But just because they made it law
Does not change God’s command
The most that we can hope for is
God’s mercy on our land

Why should God bless America?
She’s forgotten he exists
And has turned her back on everything
That made her what she is

Why should God stand beside her
Through the night with the light from his hand?
God have mercy on America
Forgive her sins and heal our land

(Reading from 2nd Chronicles 7:14) If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land

God have mercy on America forgive her sins and heal our land.
God have mercy on America forgive her sins and heal our land.

I agree with the point of the song, that many Americans have forgotten God.

Sowing Season (Yeah)
Was losing all my friends
Was losing them to drinking and to driving
Was losing all my friends and I got them back

I am on the mend
At least now I can say that I am trying
And I hope you will forget the things I still lack

Yeah

Is it in you now?
To bare to hear the truths that you were spoken
Twisted up by knaves
In a trap for fools

Is it in you now?
To watch the things you gave your life to broken
You stoop and build them up with worn out tools

Yeah

Nothing gets so bad
A whisper from your father couldn't fix it
Your whispers like a bridge, he's a river span

Take all that you have
and turn it into something you were missing
Somebody threw that brick

And shattered all your plans

Yeah

Time to get the seeds into the cold ground
It takes a while to grow anything
Before its coming to the end yeah

Before you put my body in the cold ground, take some time to warm it with your hands
Before it's coming to an end, yeah

It's coming to an end

Do you miss the blend
Of colours she left in your black and white field
Do you feel condemned just being there?

I am not your friend
I am just a man who knows how it feels

I am not your friend
I am not your lover
I am not your family

Yeah

Time to get the seeds into the cold ground
It takes a while to grow anything
Before it's coming to the end yeah

Depending on what genre it is in it could be good but most likely isn't.

Blood gushes from the wound
The cut is wide and deep
And before I turn around
He falls to his knees

A clear song rings in the blade
When steel meets hardened steel.
I hear the sound of wood that breaks,
A swords cuts through my shield.

I drop the shield and grab my axe,
A weapon in each fist.
The first blow makes the helmet crack,
The axe cut to the teeth.

I rip the axe from the head,
covered in blood and brains.
Leave the body lying dead,
Ready to strike again.

My sword cuts through clothes and skin,
Like a hot knife cuts through snow.
I smile as the bastard screams,
when I twist my sword.

Sword in my hand,
Axe on my side.
Valhall awaits me,
Soon I will die.
Bear skin on my back,
Wolf jaw on my head.
Valhall awaits me
when I'm dead.

I raise my axe above my head,
My eyes stare in furious rage.
Yet more blood will be shed,
This is a victorious day!

Blood gushes from the wound,
The cut is wide and deep.
As I turn around,
I fall to my knees.

Sword in my hand,
Axe on my side.
Valhall awaits me,
Soon I will die.
Bear skin on my back,
Wolf jaw on my head.
Valhall awaits me
when I'm dead.

The idea is to judge the lyrics only, not the song.

As for your selection:

Quote
You must be logged in to read this quote.

WTF?  There was me thinking you're a social conservative.

The sea is foaming like a bottle of beer
The wave is coming but I ain't got no fear
I'm waxing down so that I'll go real fast
I'm waxing down because it's really a blast
I'm going surfin cos I don't like your face
I'm bailing out because I hate the race
Of rats that run round and round in the maze
I'm going surfing, I'm going surfing!

You take your car to work
I'll take my board
And when you're out of fuel
I'm still afloat

My buddies and their honeys all come along
They seem invincible as they surf along
The sea is rolling like a thousand pound keg
We're going surfing, we're going surfing!

You take your car to work
I'll take my board
And when you're out of fuel
I'm still afloat

You take your car to work
I'll take my board
And when you're out of fuel
I'm still afloat

All along the undertow
Is strengthening it's hold
I never thought it would come to this
Now I can never go home

All along the undertow
Is strengthening it's hold
I never thought it would come to this
Now I can never go home

You take your car to work
I'll take my board
And when you're out of fuel
I'm still afloat

All along the undertow (you take your car to work)
Is strengthening it's hold (I'll take my board)
I never thought it would come to this (and when you're out of fuel)
Now I can never go home (I'm still afloat)

You take your car to work
I'll take my board
And when you're out of fuel
I'm still afloat

You take your car
I'll take my board
You take your car
I'll take my board
Let's go!

Not being a surfer, I can't really relate. The song is great, though.

Midnight to six man
For the first time from Jamaica
Dillinger and Leroy Smart
Delroy Wilson, your cool operator

Ken Boothe for UK pop reggae
With backing bands sound systems
And if they've got anything to say
There's many black ears here to listen

But it was Four Tops all night with encores from stage right
Charging from the bass knives to the treble
But onstage they ain't got no roots rock rebel
Onstage they ain't got no...roots rock rebel

Dress back jump back this is a bluebeat attack
'Cos it won't get you anywhere
Fooling with your guns
The British Army is waiting out there
An' it weighs fifteen hundred tons

White youth, black youth
Better find another solution
Why not phone up Robin Hood
And ask him for some wealth distribution

Punk rockers in the UK
They won't notice anyway
They're all too busy fighting
For a good place under the lighting

The new groups are not concerned
With what there is to be learned
They got Burton suits, ha you think it's funny
Turning rebellion into money

All over people changing their votes
Along with their overcoats
If Adolf Hitler flew in today
They'd send a limousine anyway

I'm the all night drug-prowling wolf
Who looks so sick in the sun
I'm the white man in the Palais
Just lookin' for fun

I'm only
Looking for fun

Pretty clever, bet I wouldn't like the music though.

Yawn. Typical Stuff. Though I guess I need to listen to it Musically first.

It's about 45 seconds and consists of a guy screaming that over a bunch of fast grindy mosh parts. And it's not a joke either.

Depending on what genre it is in it could be good but most likely isn't.

I like it and it's emo-y, so you obviously wouldn't.

It would be nice to have a blow job
It would be nice to have a blow job
It would be nice to have a blow job
It would be nice to have a blow job
It would be nice to have a blow job
It would be nice to have a blow job
It would be nice to have a blow job
It would be nice to have a blow job from your mom

Depends on the mom in question. (My previous lyric was from a Clash classic, btw, and not a particularly reggae-ish one either. Just a slightly reggae-ish one.)

And now for something completely different...

You tell me how she was when you once knew her
She played a game with many, many men
You tell me that you don't think I'd be with her
If I could have known her way back then
You ask me why I don't pack up and leave her
Now that I know her wicked ways
Well, I doubt that you could understand my thinking
So listen close to what I have to say

Chorus:
She's the rock that I lean on
She's the sunshine of my day
And, I don't care what you say about her
She took me in and made me everything I am today
She's my rock and I ain't gonna throw her away

I know she wasn't always what she is now
She had to make mistakes like everybody else
And don't you point you finger at nobody
It's plain to see you ain't no saint yourself

Chorus
Repeat last line twice more

Kind of corny, is it from the 70s?

...in the stone heart of an angry son, an angry son who has done his swallowing, his memories are bitten pills, so many bitten pills that he has collected...

...the broken ground he now moves on, this ground so unsettled, so endlessly unsettled...

...on the way to the sunken earth, and still he moves on

this is earth... ...has moved on and collected, settled to his own liking, and still he moves on

a voice in the back of his head reminding him that this is stolen, that this is not his

all these moments, all these precious time spent moments in gravity

all this anxious waiting, all this time spent waiting.

all this pain that you know, all this ....?... , all this pain that you will ever know

in waking hours, time spent in this moment

though he is living, silently in moments, and forgiving relevance... it is in his heart he is holding and calling behind sadness of empty fields. it is in these moments of time well spent...in these moments of gravity, this time well spent, a look to heaven, sighing tears of angel's and a night sky...

racing, racing, yelling softly, this is the moment, this is the moment,a look to heaven, sighing tears of angel's and a night sky, this is the moment

holding moments and forgiving relevance...it is in his heart he is holding and calling behind sadness of empty fields. it is in these moments of time well spent...in these moments of gravity, this time well spent, a look to heaven, sighing tears of angel's and a night sky...
