The United States declared independence on July 4, 1776. And so, its bicentennial, its 200th anniversary specifically, took place on July 4, 1976.

JD Vance was born on August 2, 1984, which is after the US bicentennial.

Before he ended up the VP elect, I was already aware that he was the first candidate for president or vice president that was born after the US bicentennial. That was either on a Republican or Democratic ticket.

10 years ago, CNN did mention that Tom Cotton was the first US senator elected that was born after the US bicentennial.

He may be alive on July 4, 2076 (a Saturday)
I'll be 120 on that date.

Yes, I realized this because he is far too young and unqualified to be the Vice President.

Vance's age was a pretty underdiscussed part of the campaign (of course, there were many other things to talk about).

In particular, it seems pretty relevant to the rightward shift with young people and particularly young men. I just can't believe these are unrelated. It's a big reason why I can't take anyone seriously who is predicting that Vance is DOA in a 2028 general.

Who cares?

When it comes to Vance, all I know is that I cannot be more concerned about the sofas in the Naval Observatory.
