We should all advocate for a federal law to be passed that any county that wants to be a part of the federal election needs to report to a central website every day at 5pm an estimate of how many ballots there are left to be counted.
There should be a central shame list of who estimates the worst and who forgets to report.
The lack of transparency around this is very dismal.
The two worst offenders, afaict, are NY and MA. Every other state either counts quickly or at least estimates / gives an indication where they are in the count.
If we can get relatively accurate estimates on day 1, we can estimate eventual pop vote on day 1 within some pretty close MOE.
