New England overall really doesn't seem to like female candidates.

New Hampshire’s congressional delegation is 3/4th women, and Maine’s is 1/2. Not to mention the many past and present notable reps from the region: Warren, Collins, Snowe, Shaheen, Ayotte, etc.

Maine even had the first major party candidate for prez all the way back in 1964!

Seems like it wasn't just Harris, Warren had a pretty dreadful performance as well, even for accounting how she usually underperforms a bit.

Just as I suspected, it is very possible to draw a compact Trump district, though a district like this would probably end up electing a relatively moderate Irish or Portuguese Democrat.

It does seem like Rs general geographic distribution may start to improve because it seems many of the areas with the biggest potential upside for Republicans in the state are more swingy "rural" areas.

Amused at the concept of carving Brockton out of the Fall River/New Bedford district to lean it towards Trump

Of course there’s also a potential fun Harris/Warren comparison map since Harris won by 25 (61/36) and Warren by 20 (60/40) but we know Warren ran ahead of Harris in some areas

As someone who was more inclined to back Warren over Biden/Sanders/etc in 2020, yeah Warren just underperforms compared to other MA Dems. Most of the other Senate Dems outran Harris but not Warren. Perhaps my pick would have went badly if Warren got the nod

Liz Warren is just an awful candidate in general. Dems dodged a bullet in 2020 by not nominating her.

I can't find it right now, but ages ago there was a thread about Obama's performances in MA where it was suggested that certain kinds of stereotypical Masshole Democrats don't like voting for Black people very much.

I guess Joe III could have made a VP shortlist in the universe where he beat Markey in 2020 as weird as it would be to have a VP whose uncle also is running for President (and whose uncle went on to endorse Trump anyways)

But yeah as soon as that one matchup poll came out, Warren was pretty much just hanging around 3rd place for the rest of the 2020 race

Trump had particular upside with white Catholics and Jewish voters this election, of which MA has plenty, regardless of their SES. Harris is very West Coast and Biden had certain appeal among the ghosts of white ethnic voting(see: Butte, Lackawanna, rest of New England). Trump improved with wealthy educated Catholics and Jews in NJ/NY/FL too.
