I'm thinking of members like Jared Golden, Henry Cuellar, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, Abigail Spanberger and Marcy Kaptur.

Through extremely tough cycles, unfavorable trends and personal scandals, they keep holding on. What do they all have in common that allows them to keep winning?

Economic populism, moderation on key, highly visible issues, inoffensive to management but endeared to labor

Kaptur is one of my favorite members of congress. I usually want "new blood"but she's great.

Golden probably jumps ship to the Senate.

Spanberger is doing just that for Governor.

Kaptur probably gets redistricted unfavorably and retires.

Cuellar and Gluesenkamp-Perez will probably be good for 2026 though, in spite of the former's corruption and the latter's district.

Does Cisneros return for a third round at a primary challenge?
I think Cuellar is sorted for the GE, but that's contingent on him winning renomination - which is a whole other question, assuming he faces serious opposition.

They have not been through a true red wave.

Cuellar's district is only newly red. And the GOP did not even try to win that seat this cycle.

MGP has only won twice, and both times were against the same Nazi asshole.

Yeah, and this is also why I think more Dems like them than they do other Blue Dogs like Gottheimer.

I said this the other day when someone posted a meme about it:
"The difference is that MGP is more populist rural blue dog dem, Gottheimer is elitist suburban blue dog dem

MGP justifies moderation with stuff like “this regulation will kneecap small businesses and put normal people out of work”, Gottheimer justifies it with “I want tax reductions for people with 6-7 figure incomes"
