I can imagine the ones to go down will be RFK Jr, Gaetz, Gabbard, Noem, and potentially Hegseth.

Gaetz will probably get pulled, Gabbard and RFK could get voted down, but I'm not sure.

That raises a good question. If the Senate GOP signals to Trump that Gaetz is going down in flames, does Trump pull the nomination or does he forge full steam ahead and force a vote (as a test of loyalty)?

I suspect if Gaetz is rejected by the Senate and not recess appointed, it's a scenario where he has no chance of getting to 50 votes. When it's not a close vote, everyone who hates him feels free to reject him so he'd be tracking at 35-40 votes. The rational course then would be for the President to avoid a humiliation.

I would guess this.
Fortunately Gaetz is probably going to have to resign from Congress anyway.

What makes you think Hegseth is potentially going to fail to be confirmed?

I think Gaetz ends up being withdrawn but the rest go through.

Yup, I have a feeling all of them get through. None gets less than 51 votes (possibly only Gaetz). Ergo, Murk and Collins voting nay. The rest of that clown caucus will cave to their orange god.

There's always at least one that flames out or withdraws.

Yes, but it will be for completely random reasons,  not because of probity on the part of the GOP Senate.

Gaetz and maybe Gabbard.  The rest get through, including RFK.

The question I have is how many Democrats are going to vote for confirmation... who out of that group which includes Tammy Baldwin, Elissa Slotkin, Ruben Gallego, and the two senators from NV are going to be voting yes on them?

That probably depends on how many are worried about the death threats to them, their families, and their staff if the do vote against the orange megalomaniac's lickspittles.

Gaetz resigned from Congress three or four days ago so that the Ethics Committee couldn't conclude their investigation into the possibility that he is a child sex trafficker.

I'm thinking Trump picked him in part to ensure he has an AG that's beholden to him. That's how he has de facto control over the Justice Department...

There are plenty of other loyalists out there. The point may have been to have someone similarly desperate to Trump and with a similar amount to lose, so that unlike with Bill Barr the rat won't leave the sinking ship.

Gaetz, possibly Gabbard. My instinct is RFK gets through, he seems to have successfully tricked a lot of people in to thinking he’s sane.
