I'm torn on this.

On the one hand, Trump won all the swing states and GA wasn't as embarrassing a loss for Dems as say, Arizona. I don't know if the state party leadership should take all the blame.

On the other hand, I trust Ossoff's instincts, since he has won statewide. Williams represents a very blue district, so Dems may want to find someone who can help Dems do better in suburban and rural areas.

He lost to Karen Handel's Z-level campaign in 2017, and literally lost to initial 2020, only bailed out  by a run-off, which he still only barely won.

So yeah. He needs someone who can be more cautious.

To be fair, that district was much more Republican leaning back then. Ossoff won it in 2020 when he ran for senate

its worth remembering that elected officials and staffers sometimes know a lot more than is public and well when you work with someone as a Senator like Ossoff does you would know things that the rest of us don't.

I think Ossoff is safe. He hasn't rocked the boat just like Warnock. Georgia is a purple state now. We haven't heard anything damning about either of them and if the Trump Administration is a giant cluster like we think, then Ossoff should be fine.

I feel the same way

Of course, you could have also said the same thing about Bill Nelson in FL, but he got taken down in a Trump midterm. However, now that we know how much FL has swung right since then makes more sense

you could forgive me for wanting to see a GA Dem win a statewide race without a runoff for the first time since 2006 before believing a GA Dem is safe in a statewide race in 2026

The only way Ossoff would ever actually be safe is if Republicans nominate Greene or someone else who implodes like Mark Robinson did. Otherwise we're still too polarized. Herschel Walker as the GOP nominee still didn't make Warnock safe, though in a Republican midterm I imagine Warnock would've won outright pretty easily without a runoff.

I trust Ossoff's judgment on this.

Of course you pop in to attack the one overly optimistic comment in this thread lol

Favored, sure, but safe? No.

Time will tell, but if there’s any cycle where the bottom is liable to fall out for the GA GOP, it’ll be this one

I hate to see this kind of drama, but it's better to have it now than closer to the 2026 elections

I have nothing against Nikema Williams, but the state party chair needs to be a full time job for a person fully based in Georgia, not in DC over half of the time
