With Nader, a good fellow nominee would have been Hitler given the ideological similarities.

In 1960, Kennedy would have been a good running mate for any of the Democrats you mentioned, provided he would have been interested. There was an attempt in 1960 by Stevenson partisans to put together a Stevenson-Kennedy ticket, but JFK was too close to sewing up the main prize to consider it.

1968  If Robert Kennedy had lived and won the Democratic nomination I believe he would have chosen Tennessee Governor Frank Clement, who was a Civil Rights progressive, a solid stump campaigner and youthful & photogenic at the time

Since no one else seems interested in replying, I suppose this listing could serve as some sort of a database of candidates who have unsuccessfully sought Presidential nominations since 1960.

Thank you for your detailed reply, Warner for Senate '08.

Very interesting names.  You have really done your research.

Great work.

A list such of that one is quite over-whelming and would take a bit of time to research, time that some of us don't have.

That being said, I'll do some of the recent elections later.

Thank you very much for your comments, Bob Loblaw.

Very true indeed.

As I said in my original post,

Pick whichever names you like from the lists and name the running mate.

I really did not expect anyone to name running mates for all of the names on my list.

And thank you for your intention to reply to some of the names later.

Talking about 2004. If McCain was close to joining the ticket with Kerry then he would presumably have had less objection to joining Edwards or Lieberman.
