The fact we have an ex-Michigan House of Representatives Minority Leader (who represented an area in Stevens' district) and current Pontiac Mayor (also in MI-11) declaring for MI-10 tells me Michigan Dem insiders don't think Stevens is going to run for Senate.

Yeah I'm thinking that McMorrow may have this to herself. Stevens seems a bit unlikely at this point and Nessel has also been very quiet.

Joe Tate, Speaker of the State House, is considering as well.

Stevens deserves a thrashing in the primary, but unfortunately she will probably landslide McMorrow.

If true, it will lead to an interesting (and possible clown car) Dem primary in MI-11. There are many Dems in the state legislature within the district's boundaries.

One name to look out for, President Pro Tempore of the Michigan Senate Jeremy Moss. He is term limited in 2026 since, despite only being 38 years old, he will have already served 12 years in the state legislature by January 2027. He's gay and Jewish, helpful in a district with significant Jewish and LGBTQ populations.

Surprised his name hasn’t come up a lot more. Very impressive background and a black man.

If Stevens beats McMorrow in the primary, Dems are beyond redemption.

I think Tate is the only one that can beat Stevens in the primary with his base in Detroit. The institutional forces that be in Dem primaries won’t otherwise allow a state senator to beat a sitting Congresswoman. But a black state House speaker is different.

Endorsing Stevens, she is the type of voice that the party needs.

Tate is the most impressive name I've heard so far. Former NFL player who became a Marine and served in combat, sounds like a future presidential candidate in the 2030s... I could see McMorrow & Stevens competing for the same base while Tate dominates Detroit to come out on top.

Who are the constituencies for each candidate?

Maybe

African Americans: Tate

Progressives of all stripes: McMorrow

White centrists and pro-Israel people: Stevens.

Muslims TBD if Abdul El-Sayed gets in.

This will be the most important primary of the cycle. We can not allow a Schumerist to win.

McMorrow vs. Stevens reminds me of Kim vs. Tammy Murphy or Alsobrooks vs. Trone.
