If Hegseth withdraws, I think they move on to Tulsi next.

Well good. Look at the story I posted. 100 former national security officials think she needs a hard look including though closed door briefings.

I think I could live with this cabinet if Hegseth, Gabbard and Patel get the boot. Ideally Bobbeh too. The fact that Trump couldn't just have regular picks with, you know, qualifications and relevant experience, shows how much he's mentally deteriorated.

Does it? His first term picks, while better, were still largely appointed based on perceived loyalty and patronage. I know that this is a fact of all appointments, but Democratic ones at least consider sone semblance of competence and expertise too.

Yes, there was nobody as insane as those people in his cabinet the first time. He had picks that seemed bad and random, like Tillerson, but nobody who seemed like a compromised foreign asset, drunk serial sex harasser, or someone pushing insane medical conspiracies, etc. His whole thing now is retribution, guzzling Putin's nuts and you're only allowed in if you're fully on board with both of those things.

He might be a good pick for an Agriculture related role.

I'd support this. He likely wouldn't run in 2026 if he gets it.

This tweet is the perfect encapsulation of how awful the press is at covering Trump. Donald Trump is literally the one who is nominating these people! Yet the framing on this and every other story about the confirmation battles treats him as a bystander!

Like if it concerned Trump that badly, why did HE nominate him in the first place???

In the words of Lindsey Graham in 2016: they're pretending the emperor has clothes and, frankly, a brain.

And they've been doing it for over eight years now.

The Two Nominees for Whom Trump Is Prepared to Go to War - The Bulwark

Quote
Gabbard’s and Kennedy’s nominations, like Hegseth’s and Patel’s, have met resistance in pockets of the Senate. But Trump allies view the stakes differently. Confirming Gabbard and Kennedy is seen as an opportunity for the president-elect to cement his legacy of broadening the Republican coalition to include disaffected Democrats and independents. They note that the two are considered Blue MAGA rock stars among the Trump faithful. They’re both loved by the new influential podcasters whom Trump courted this election and give Trump the chance to burnish his anti-establishment bona fides.

“The appointments of RFK and Tulsi Gabbard represent a realignment in American politics that you saw in the election,” said Roger Stone, a longtime Trump friend and adviser. “He understands the historical significance of that realignment.”

...

“Frankly, Pete [Hegseth] might not make it,” said one Trump adviser. “We’ll see. I’m not sure if the boss is willing to fight for that because there are people in our own camp who aren’t sure it’s worth it. But Kash [Patel] should get confirmed. And if they try to touch Tulsi and Kennedy, then it’s war.”

Added a second adviser: “If Tulsi or Bobby face real trouble, that’s when Trump will really start to fight. They represent the challenging of the status quo of the bureaucracy. That’s what MAGA is about.”

Gabbard might get votes from some in the Dem caucus like Bernie.

Well folks, after being told I was a ridiculous hack for saying this was a possibility, here we are:

Nothing confirmed yet, but there appears to be talk of this happening.

This person is just quoting an unnamed source "speculating." I wouldn't put a ton of stock into it. I certainly hope it isn't true. These are arguably dipsh**t's two worst cabinet picks in terms of utter destruction they can cause within their roles, and it would lower my estimation of Bernie a ton.

The coping when Gabbard gets confirmed painlessly after all the nonsense allegations started by Hillary is going to be glorious.

With Gabbard, all her detractors have are just straight up hyperbole. She's not an agent of Russia(if that was the case she'd be in prison already considering she was a member of the US government at one time and had(might still have one) a security clearance). And I don't think having a meeting with Assad is criminal, not to mention the US Government likely was listening in on those meetings and so far no charges arose from them.

I get the sense he is honestly keeping an open mind at this point, and could end up going either way.

Wow. This is the first plan Trump has presented to get Mexico to pay for the wall that might have a chance of working.

Trump’s DOJ secretly obtained records of his FBI pick Kash Patel, lawmakers, staffers and media in leak investigation

Quote
The Justice Department secretly obtained phone records from two members of Congress and 43 staffers – including Kash Patel, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to lead the FBI – during sweeping leak investigations during Trump’s first term, according to a watchdog report released Tuesday.

The new report from the Justice Department’s inspector general raises concerns about how the department tried to root out reporters’ sources from a sprawling and bipartisan list of federal employees who had access to classified information because of their job.

Patel and the two members of Congress are not named in the report, but two sources familiar with the matter tell CNN that Patel was targeted along with Democratic Reps. Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell. Patel was a staffer for the GOP-led House Intelligence Committee at the time, and Schiff has since been elected to the Senate and took office Monday.

Prosecutors also sought records including emails from journalists at CNN, The Washington Post and The New York Times, according to the report.
