CNN: Senator Blumenthal, who sits on the Armed Services Committee, tells Network that the "Hegseth Nomination" is doomed.

Quote
Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal called President-elect Donald Trump’s Defense secretary pick Pete Hegseth’s nomination “doomed.”

He added that he’d be surprised if “we’re still talking about Pete Hegseth next Monday, even by the end of the week.”

Blumenthal told reporters on Wednesday, “I’ve talked to five to ten Republicans who have said to me they’re just waiting for the right moment to say no to Pete Hegseth.”

Pressed on why no Republican senators have explicitly said that they won’t support Hegseth yet, Blumenthal responded, “nobody wants to defy Donald Trump,” adding the power of retribution is “pretty daunting.”

“I think Republicans are reluctant to step forward and be the first one, but I think privately, they’re much readier to advise the president that the better part of wisdom would be the urge withdrawing this nomination,” he continued.

Blumenthal, who sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said he’s prepared to demand records about Hegseth’s past financial dealings and sexual misconduct and alcohol abuse allegations, which he said could be “disqualifying.”

Blumenthal said something similar about Gaetz, same amount of Senators too. Something tells me Trump's entire cabinet is about to have a lot more hard of a time getting confirmed than people expect.

I doubt that, only one left that could fall is Gabbard. The rest might be unqualified like how people like Noem & Mcmahon are (much like Buttigieg & Beccera were), but they have no personal skeletons that might doom them; they're unqualifiedness isn't going to doom them.  Also, I don't think people are expecting RFK to get a good amount of crossover vote, they should.

Senators imho have a quota of about 2-3 cabinet nominees they could get away with not confirming. Any number going pass, at that point they're just honestly telling the President to go f**k themselves and the line "It's the Presidents prerogative to have who they want in their cabinet" that many senators like Collins like to spout would be bullsh*t.

RFK JR will not get a single crossover vote, literally what are you talking about?  Patel, Gabbard, and him could fall

Respectfully, you’re nuts if you think there is any universe where Booker votes to confirm RFK Jr.

All I'm saying is don't be surprised if it happens. They both share the same distain for junk food & trans fats. Maybe that's enough for Booker to dismiss Kennedy's views on vaccines.  Crazier things have happened, FFS Fetterman is going to probably vote for Dr.Oz simply off of him giving his word.

1) It’s not enough to dismiss RFK Jr being an anti-vaxxer and sex predator.  Respectfully, you’re wishcasting if you think RFK Jr’s going to get any crossover votes

2) I doubt Fetterman votes to confirm Oz

Why would that disqualify him? Being a piece of sh**t is a requirement for the Trump cabinet.

I wonder when/if Meatball Ron will grow a pair.

That's it, an old clip of Trump from April 2022 when DeSantis was planning to run for the presidency? This is nothing.

I don't want DeSantis to accept SecDef with Trumps minute-by-minute mood changes - Period.

Any thoughts on who Trump might nominate as SBA Administrator? This is one of the last Cabinet-level positions that remains unfilled.

Maybe he could offer it to Kelly Loeffler as a consolation prize after snubbing her for Secretary of Agriculture (although, she may not want a job if she’s running for Senate or Governor in 2026). Are there any other potential nominees? I haven’t seen any recent news for this role.

Ohh, I kinda called this one!

So many potential Floridians in this Cabinet...

Maybe that's for the good of Florida though. Maybe it can be a better place...MAYBE.

Maybe I'll be wrong again, but I expect that having successfully gotten Trump to go along with the confirmation process, the Senate will congratulate itself on having retained its oversight... and then promptly not exercise it, with at most a single token rejection.

I’ve never been quite sure what the SBA does, but I have to imagine having a billionaire Fortune 500 company head leading it defeats the point.

Unsurprising but important because she's being nominated for DNI:

"JUST NOW: Several former Tulsi Gabbard aides have spoken out with concerns about her regularly reading and sharing articles from RT (Russia Today), even after being advised it was unreliable."

"ABC obtained a 2017 memo from Gabbard to campaign staff that the outlet said lamented the United States’ 'hostility toward Putin.'"

That's all she said.

Sounds like a soft no.

More like a "we'll see" that's definitely leaning no. I do wonder if she's chosen if senators will dig into Ernst's affair against her husband, she had with another soldier while he was overseas allegedly that's what he testified.

Probably not.

Senators are usually very deferential and respectful to other Senators who are nominated, even if they vote no. Jeff Sessions got in as Trump's AG in 2017 on a 53-47 vote that you'd think would be contentious but basically everyone who voted against him couched it in a "no hard feelings, Jeff" sort of way.

I'm not sure SBA knows what SBA does, either. It's just one of those orgs with a pleasant sounding name that means it's invincible to reorganizations. (Obama tried to merge SBA into Department of Commerce and got flack for trying to attack Small Businesses TM so he dropped it)

David O. Sacks, another apartheid failson from Thielworld, will be a "crypto and AI czar."

Sacks has a sh**tty podcast and tows the Thiel/Musk party line on portraying Putin's invasion as Ukraine's fault.

Tim Ryan in Newsweek:

Hey Democrats: We Should Work With RFK Jr. on Fixing America's Food System

Quote
Democrats should join RFK Jr. in the fight to Make America Healthy Again.

Yes, I know, I know: RFK Jr. has some very troubling opinions, controversial views, a complicated past, and no shortage of detractors. But he didn't get nominated to be the Pope. He got nominated to help us get healthy, and he is passionate about it. And we should absolutely challenge him on any policies not grounded in science or data. But on food system reform, he's right.

We have a rare chance to fix a system that is literally killing us. We are a sick country, and a sick country cannot maintain long-term prosperity. Kennedy is passionate about this issue, and he's willing to take on the entrenched interests that have perpetuated this broken system for decades.

Democrats should join him in this fight.

It's funny how many Republicans whined about Van Jones, and to look at the pathetic pieces of crap Trump is bringing in now.
I'm convinced Trump feels justified in destroying the government because he thinks Obama did and to him, it's just tit for tat.
