We have a lot of seasonal jobs here so our unemployment rate varies by 2-3% between the peak of summer and January, when it is usually highest.

December, the latest month with figures, saw a rate of 8.5% compared with 7.2% last year and 6.5% the year before.

The average unemployment rate for 2008 was just under 7%, about 1 point higher than the previous year.

Here it's almost the same. Usually, the unemployment rate varies from between 2-4% in summer and 6-8% from February to April, when low-wage seasonal workers from Eastern Germany and Eastern Europe are laid off and head back home.

6.6% for Middlesex County, Mass. which is probably the most populous in the state.

Beltrami County-10.7%... ouch

We're pretty much the bright spot in north-central MN.  Neighboring Clearwater County has the highest rate in the state at an astounding 21.6%.

Yes, most populous.

Most importantly, my own personal unemployment rate is still 100%.

On an unrelated note, anyone need to hire a writer/editor full time?  Anyone?  Anyone?

Yes, actually.  My wife requires some help in writing her shopping lists, and I require some help in editing them.

Anyways, it's 4.2% in Ottawa metro area (Ontario part), up 0.1% from January 2008. It's low because Ottawa is a overwhelmingly public sector/government jobs city.

It's 5.0% in the Quebec part of the Ottawa metro area (aka Gatineau), up 0.9% from one year ago.

Overall, for the interprovincial metro area, it's 4.4% (+0.3%).

Unemployment in Montreal is up to 8.1% (+0.9%).

Ottawa, ON 4.6% (+0.3%)
Gatineau, QC 6.8% (+1.7%)
Ottawa-Gatineau Metro Area 5.1% (+0.6%)
Montreal, QC 9.3% (+1.6%)

7.3 [Barron] which is up from 6.1  one year earlier.

read in my local paper that January unemployment was up too 9.6 for my county the rate was 7.6 in jan 2008.
the February rate is 10.7.
It is now up to 11.0% and according to the local paper the number of people employed in the county went up the rise in unemployment was from a increase in the size of the labor force. i believe it also said it was the only county in the region to post a increase in people employed over one month. October 2009: 9.7% (+0.5%)

November 2009: 11.6% (+0.9%)

December 2009: ~ 4.5% (+0.7%)

New unemployment numbers came out today (for November) and my county has about the 5th highest unemployment rate in Austria. In December it will have one of the lowest. This has to do with the start of the winter season in December, when the number of employed in the county jumps by 15% compared with November, while the number of unemployed falls by 2/3, from 4.200 to 1.700 In fact, the county had the second-lowest rate in Austria in December 2008.

Now that I'm living in the Netherlands, I should report the Dutch rates but I'm still attached to home even if I haven't spend more than a month in Dublin in two years now.

However, I can't find exact Dublin figures on the central statistics office website, but they do give the numbers which indicates to me that it is a bit higher than the national average (rough estimate) - which is now 14.7%
