Opinion of the Free Palestine movement?

I think it's a Freedom Movement. While I think it's very unproductive to withhold your vote from Biden in the hopes that he'll stop supporting Israel, they're still calling attention to a genocide that American civilians are supporting with our tax dollars. You might disagree with their tactics, but ask yourself why you feel that way.

Let me preference by saying that I think that there's a difference between those who see what's going on in Israel and thinks it's a misjustice, and those who chant "Death to America" and "Gas the Jews". The people in the first group reminds me a bit of the people who were "anti-American" during the War on Terror and are mainly anti-Bibi. I doubt that many of them would support the total abolishment of Israel. At worst they are misguided and they don't consider the harm that a nation aligned with Syria/Iran would cause to our allies. The later group is completely unhinged and has grown louder over the last couple of weeks.

In truth the Free Palestine movement has been a complete disaster, Palestinians are native to Palestine and deserve a state, and Israel has not been a good faith actor under Netanyahu. But when half of the time the Free Palestine groups in the West sounds positive genocidal, it doesn’t really make one want to support the Palestinian cause.

Like any movement that fights against a colonial oppressor, there will always be some unsavory characters in the mix, always conveniently used by fodder by uncharitable actors looking to exploit for political purposes. Many of the anti-apartheid freedom fighters in South Africa were convicted of terrorism for bombing buildings and whatnot, because war is hell, and that's what the struggle against apartheid was. That does not change or excuse what the cause is, which remains and always will remain just. So yes, unironically free Palestine etc.

I just asked myself why I feel that way, my answer was "because their tactics are disagreeable".  If your tactics include limiting the civil liberties of others (or making excuses for those who limit the civil liberties of others), you're doing protesting wrong.
