If the opinion on Putin was the only issue to evaluate if a politician is good or bad, Chega, Vox, Fratelli d'Italia and Milei would be fine

Both are pro Putin, but Melenchon is better in almost every other way.

Melenchon is not a 'social democrat,' don't be ing ridiculous. Anyway, for anyone looking for a candidate who stands strongly against demagoguery and racism and against Putin there is no good choice here.

La Pen. She knows radical Islam is the source of problems in the world.

You're back! And wow...that's quite the take...

Good thing I recently cleared some room on my ignore list.

Folks voting for the daughter of a Holocaust denier, allied with a Pétain apologist, to own le anti-Semitic left, are really telling on themselves and revealing their true motives.

She’s literally renounced her own father and also participated in a march against anti semitism while Melenchon did this

For the first time ever, a major demonstration being attended by representatives of the major political parties includes the far right - but not the far left.

On Sunday afternoon thousands of people heeded a call from the Speakers of the two houses of parliament to show their support for French "Republican" values and their rejection of antisemitism - this in the face of a steep rise in antisemitic actions since 7 October.

Among the first to announce their presence were Marine Le Pen, three-time presidential candidate for the National Rally (formerly the National Front), and the party's young president, Jordan Bardella.

Almost simultaneously came a rejoinder from their counterpart on the far left, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, irascible leader of France Unbowed (LFI). His party would not be attending, he tweeted, because the march was a "rendezvous for unconditional supporters of the massacre [of Gazans]".

Maybe you should ask why the far left is so hated by so many liberals as well .

Classic OSR spamming of the same ineffective point.

DeSantis, Modi, Le Pen - which fascist are you getting in the tank for next?

None of them are fascists and funny how you just conveniently ignored the rest of my post  .

Also I love how you brought up Modi here in the same post your calling Le Pen a fascist because of her father’s sins . In that case then Rahul Gandhi is also a fascist to given who his grandma was but expecting consistently from progressives is laughable

I don't know what to make of Melenchon.

He objected to flying the EU flag on the grounds its designer was inspired by devotion to the Virgin Mary.  https://www.irishtimes.com/news/world/europe/french-far-left-leader-s-tongue-gets-him-in-hot-water-1.3255339

Was he really concerned about such a thing, or was it an opportunistic objection?

Melenchon is infinitely preferable to Le Pen, even if I don't like him all that much. I will not vote for any National Front piece of sh**t.

Almost all the french political spectrum, from the Communist Party to Marine Le Pen, joined the rally against anti-semitism. Mélenchon didn't join. The refusal of Mélenchon to participate doesn't make him an anti-semitic. He might have though that this rally could fuel the narrative that the protests against the Israeli military operation in Gaza and the palestine campings in western universities are anti-semitic.
