What is really scary is that this guy allegedly contracted murders. The government couldn't make the charges stick but it's likely that it was true. You let this guy out and he'll start trafficking drugs again and much worse.
If he was separately charged he likely would’ve been convicted of murder-for-hire. Federal prosecutors just used it to support the life imprisonment charge. Now Ulbricht thinks he was over sentenced based on just the official charges, but the contracted murder evidence was an important factor in the severity of the sentence.
I don’t really see a persuasive case for commuting his sentence. It kind of seems like Libertarians want him released just because he was a nerdy White guy who flouted laws, ignoring that he was an evil scumbag too.
