It should be nobody's business, imho. They're both grown people.

There is infidelity involved, so it’s everyone’s business.

Why?

Yeah, this is a private matter.

The man is leaving his wife and seven children and it doesn’t seem for any good reason besides he wants a different woman. And he’s a public figure. He ought to be publicly shamed for it.

Public figure or not he's owed understanding regarding things that could or could not have manifested surrounding his sexual relationships.
At the very least if we're assigning blame in a scolding way we either be even handed on this or abstain from engaging in that at all.

Van Duyne said that McCormick’s kids are adults and the McCormicks’ marriage has been over for some time.

McCormick's website says he only has three sons, and according to this post he made on LinkedIn eight months ago, they all appear to be adults with girlfriends.  The other four children referenced here are most likely his soon-to-be ex-wife's children; presumably also adults.

So there's even less for us to get all pissy about.

Did either of these campaign on "family values" and attack Democrats for not being sufficiently moral/Christian/holy/etc.? Have they ever criticized anyone in any party for a sex scandal?

If they did, then criticizing their hypocrisy is fair game. If they never did any of that (which would be pretty unusual for a Republican in a red state), then sure, keep it private.

I’m glad he’s not leaving behind small children, but I still think it’s bad for a public figure to have an affair.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama has been happily married to his wife Michelle for the last 33 years.

Guess who therepublicans criticized, regarding personal lives ?

Even the Clintons have been married for nearly 50 years. Despite all the turmoil.

And there is as much love in the Clinton’s’ marriage as there is in Trump and Malania’s (and like Trump and Malania, both Clintons are amoral scumbags)
