A true B-movie workhorse.

Cinema won't be the same without him.

Creatively, he probably had his high point in the first half of the 60s when he directed a couple of Edgar Allan Poe adaptations starring Vincent Price:

the list of filmmakers who got their start working for Corman is long, Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, Polly Platt, Peter Bogdanovich, Declan O'Brien, Armondo Linus Acosta, Paul Bartel, Jonathan Demme, Donald G. Jackson, Gale Anne Hurd, Carl Colpaert, Joe Dante, James Cameron, John Sayles, Monte Hellman, Carl Franklin, George Armitage, Jonathan Kaplan, George Hickenlooper, Curtis Hanson, Jack Hill, Robert Towne, Menahem Golan, James Horner, and Timur Bekmambetov.  I love his movies, but even film fans who have never heard of him should tip their caps to the man (if you can even call yourself a film fan if you don't know who Corman is).

I highly recommend "The Haunted Palace" to any Lovecraft fans.
