Meanwhile more nations are rumoured to withdraw according to Dutch television such as Estonia and Ireland.

Nobody comes out with a good look here. If I were Israel I'd have withdrawn anyway but instead I think they've acted quite cynically.

It's a music festival... Nothing about this is about music anymore. But yes Israël is going to win, with or withour vote, they'll win. That's inevitable.

Rumours that Flanders isn't even going to broadcast the thing, this is a media personality working for our public broadcasting union who basically claims we will just have a classic flemish comedy series instead of broadcasting Eurovision.

That would be a violation of EBU roles and i'm not sure how voting would occur if no-one within Belgium (or Flanders) wouldn't even broadcast it. Though I suspect that even if this would have consequences, Belgium would respond by withdrawing from Eurovision and/or EBU (European Broadcasting Union) permanently.

Former chair of Open VLD (Flemish liberals) states

Eurovision is morally bankrupt.

This might be the end for Belgian participation in Eurovision history. Sentiment towards Eurovision probably also turns a lot more hostile from this and membership of EBU and participation in Eurovision also requires a huge entry fee paid for by national taxes. Given people talk about austerity measures often, this would be the easiest thing to save taxpayers money on.

EBU also provides pooled news and sports footage, so a full withdrawal is unlikely.

Also, Eurovision has long been political. See Ukraine winning in 2022.

Well there are twitter vids from Israeli delegation harrassing the Greek, Spanish, Irish and Dutch delegations.

It's also an Israeli journalist that has filmed some artists without their permission.







Him not wanting to be filmed to him being covered in the flag of his country (and yes the banner is unintentionally ironic)
