Johnson is a decent person it's sad that the uniparty was able to hijack him. They even got Trump to cave on the issue.

Lol you’re so butthurt about aid passing that you make this thread? 😂

I mean, at a certain point we just have to conclude that they like and are rooting for Putin, don't we?
I am not rooting for Putin but there has to be an "End Game". I supported Aid at the beginning of War but this War is IMO "Unwinnable" just like Israels War against Hamas & Hezbollah was unwinnable. Also, keep in mind that there was conflict in the Donbas since 2010 long before the Russia invaded Ukraine in early 2022. If this keeps continueing by the end of Pres Bidens 2nd Term the Biden Admin will have spent as much as George W. Bush spent on the Wars in Afghanistan & Iraq.

Russia still isn’t fully “winning” in any way, it makes them look worse the longer the war goes on. But I’m sure plenty echoed this sentiment against Germany and Japan in WWII and just wanted us to roll belly up.

Democrats have no reason to save him.

They kind of do; he included them in the process at a juncture where McCarthy arrogantly told them to pound sand and then demanded their support anyway. This is how the game is played, and I say this as a Mike Johnson hater.

Politically they still have no obligation to keep him in office. He stands for nothing they support.

He is right now standing for something they support (staying true to the US' international commitment and supporting its allies). If he later stands in the way of vital legislation, there's always a chance to throw him out later.

A truism in politics, or any kind of situation that involves people with different goals, is that you have to give something in order to get something.  Most people in Congress inherently understood this until the rise of the no-compromise caucus among the Republicans.  Johnson allowed the aid bill to proceed, and I believe that enough Democrats will reward him for it by helping to save his job.
You are too naive. Johnson must go!

And with the lunatics holding the balance for the Republicans, the odds are that whoever gets in in Johnson's place will be much worse. While this might help the Dems electorally a bit, Speaker Van Orden or Speaker Biggs can do quite a bit of damage before then.

It will be interesting to see what the Dems do. I wonder if they'll push for concessions or just save him because the alternative could be so much worse..

Don’t worry anti-Johnson Republicans, after Democrats save him once it’s unlikely Johnson would survive the inevitable second motion to vacate, especially if/when Trump lobbies for his ouster. I don’t think there would even be enough time for Johnson to make another concession to Democrats.

let's be real, even if he survives this, the R caucus is so unstable that he'd have another motion to vacate against him by October, if he's lucky. Dems actually might want to keep him around just so that the GOP in disarray mess happens closer to the election.

Johnson is a Democratic puppet. Why wouldn't they save him?

ah yes, the guy who is virulently homophobic and has tried to suck up to Trump as much as possible (which isn't enough of course) is a D plant

Obviously, anyone not openly committing treason and sieg heil-ing Führer Trump right now is a Progressive Communist Traitor to the GOP.

Maybe, just maybe, funding Ukraine is in the national interest.

I'd doubt it, though the fact that Buck and Gallagher specifically timed their resignations to f**k over the GOP means I actually could see others doing something like this.

Yeah, people like CMR, LaTurner, Pence could all go “screw this I’m outta here”.

Wouldn't it make more sense for these 2 (likely non-existent) representatives to switch to the Democratic Party than resign altogether? Both solutions put the Democrats in charge, but by switching they could still vote no on the parts of the Biden agenda they don't like? If they just resign, then suddenly Biden gets whatever he wants.

Or is that part of the bluff? Or is Luna just making stuff up and not worrying about whether it makes sense internally?

Could be members who would never become Democrats or vote for Jeffries as speaker, but could simply have had enough of the clown show and this puts it over the edge

A bluff is possible, but I don't think the lunatic fringe of Greene, Gohmert, Gaetz, etc, care if the GOP members resign, hell they might be okay with it since the only things they give  a crap about are causing chaos

Luna just flat out making stuff up wouldn't surprise me either.
