I have been invited to make an open and honest public statement on the matter, so I will. From my understanding of the offending post (something about Zionists being Nazis, if my memory serves), I would consider it a deeply inane and deplorable attitude, and worthy of an infraction, but not on its own worthy of a mute. That's why my assumption was that the rationale for the mute wasn't this single post alone, but rather PSOL's pattern of repeatedly inflammatory posts on the subject. Unfortunately, since I utterly despise Israel-Palestine discourse, I am not familiar with these posts, and therefore cannot speak on their severity. That said, and unlike seemingly most people here, I happen to trust the moderators to be generally level-headed and fair (if not devoid from occasional biases and hangups). Therefore my working assumption is that PSOL's mute was probably warranted, but I'll freely concede that my opinion is uninformed and might change if I actually cared enough to look into this (which I don't).

Yes. I disagree with his view and I think the mute would be unfair if we were guaranteed freedom of speech under the terms of service of the atlas which we're not. Personally I think you should be able to voice your opinion if it's not advocating for violence but if he earned a mute I assume a critical forum rule was violated. And I don't know what his comment said verbatim or how long the mute is.

I have recently been informed that the mute is the work of centrist conspiracy.
I’m not entirely sure what exactly got him muted but as a blue avatar it is my obligation to reflexively oppose the mod team’s decisions. Therefore, I think muting him is too harsh of a punishment and that the mods have been corrupted by the demonic influences of Bloombergist ghouls.

I refuse to support PSOL. He was properly muted. He needs to take a break and revaulate his life decisions. I wished him the best in DMs, he resorted to namecalling.

The weirdest thing about this whole saga is that he seems to think any of this will do anything to get his sanction reduced.  Quite the opposite, in fact.

While it should not get his sanction reduced, why would it increase it? It is true he wasted about 5 seconds of my time this morning but he has a right to reach out to others to appeal on his behalf, doesn't he? Or am I missing something here?

I'm going to just concur with Antonio really. I hope PSOL is allowed back because I don't think he's a troll, a spammer or completely noxious (and i don't think sending DMs should affect his chances) but all of us, regardless of how long we've been on the forum, should avoid histrionics on the issue of Israel/Palestine lest the whole place devolve into a pigsty of personal attacks between posters.
