Social Democratic Party
This party is the primary vehicle of Thai Trade Unions although it's also supported by the military. Their platform is to support basic worker's protections, a more progressive tax structure, a basic Social Security program and expanded public healthcare. They also support immigration, abolishing all institutionalized discrimination based on race (due to occupying neighboring countries and high immigration, Thailand is only about 41% Thai in this scenario) and....militarizing the police force, establishing a secret police department, changing the electoral system and government style to a parliament designed so that candidates approved by trade unions have an unfair advantage, and censoring the media that supports opposition parties and giving the military free reign to operate and it wishes without civilian control. Oh and they're also staunch free traders.

Fascist Party
This party is supported by a very logical coalition of small business owners and the upper middle class, rural peasants, and the educated bureaucratic class of government workers and academics, the latter of who were the primary force for democratizing Thailand setting up its liberal (by the standards of the time) immigration laws and abolishing segregation. Now they decided to support a Thai supremacist ethnostate. The party also supports reinstating the monarchy, ending all immigration, and establishing strict protectionist policies. However...they also support the current electoral laws, including women's suffrage passed about a decade earlier, which actually makes sense because their rural base wouldn't be able to vote under more restrictive voting laws. They also want a militarized police force and media censorship, but also want to restrict the military and place it under civilian control.

Free Trade Party
The party supported by wealthy industrialists. Their platform is to abolish democracy and replace it with a sort of unelected oligarchy, and then cut taxes a lot along with all workers' protections and abolish the ban on child labor. However they oppose any restrictions on immigration, which would deprive them of a workforce, and opposition segregation and institutionalized discrimination. And despite the name they want a mercantilist system where Thailand just works as a giant factory pumping out cheap goods to export to the rest of the world while they profit.

Yep this actually happened in this game, I didn't make it up. LOL. What a choice, although very 1930.

Oh yeah another fun fact: Thailand had a civil war in this game about 30 years earlier over whether or not bureaucrats should be elected or appointed.

How did academics and bureaucrats end up supporting the fascist party? I'm so confused.

I vote against the FTP and I'd generally support the SDP especially if I'm not Thai, even if they are just the lesser evil.

Reading between the lines the SDP is mainly a trade union party supporting the military out of a non-ideological interest. Their support of militarizing the police force is to solidify this alliance, and the other repressive ideas in their platform is derived from a desire to maintain power.

Overall I don't think Thailand is a stable democratic republic.
