Personally, I'd probably have supported Clinton had I voted in the Democratic primary, though I think Sanders would've had a better shot of winning in the general due to the anti-establishment electorate that year. Webb and Chafee just didn't seem like serious candidates to me, and O'Malley was just kinda small compared to the other two and seemed to lack gravitas. While I do respect Sanders and appreciate some of the issues he was able to challenge the mainstream consensus on, he was simply just too far to the left for my tastes, and I have real doubts about his ability to work with Congress to even get legislation passed as well as his tendency to surround himself with combative leftwing firebrands (Brianna Joy Gray, David Sirota, Nina Turner) who seem more interested in purity politics than crafting actual policy. Clinton, despite my reservations about her on several policies and her judgement, was a qualified "stable hand" at the very least who wasn't hostile to business and didn't use the same lack of nuance when it comes to policy that the wave of populism was demanding.

Wow, is this ancient history already?  Makes me feel old.  I was already a full-on grown adult in 2016.

Horrible options. A socialist or the most incompetent politician in the last century or so. O'Malley seems nice I guess?

I voted for Clinton. I don't regret it. What I do regret is overestimating the integrity of the average American.

Yeah, same. It definitely weirds me out how fast time moves.

Bernie Sanders was the obvious best choice at the time. Significantly more obvious with hindsight, if you think Trump becoming president was a bad thing

Without hindsight: Clinton, because I geniunely think she'd be a great president.
With hindsight: Sanders (sane)

Bernie Sanders all day. The man is imperfect but he's one of the better mainstream candidates to come out in recent primaries.

At the time I leaned towards Clinton, but I'm not too sure now.

Voted Bernie in 2016. With hindsight, knowing the disastrous consequences of Clinton getting the nomination, I would have volunteered more time and campaigned more vigorously on his behalf.

Very tempted to go for Sanders in hindsight. But I dunno. Would he have actually won?
I guess I stick with Clinton.

I didn't actually vote in that year's primary, but I probably would have voted for Hillary based on my beliefs at the time. If I could go back in time, however, I would have voted for Sanders, since there was clearly a populist mood in the country at the time.

Honestly I fail to see how the election of Sanders to the presidency stops the rise of MAGA fascism in the GOP, perhaps under a less self-defeating leader. It's just that the Democrats would've been ideologically radicalized as well.

I voted for Bernie, but my original preference that year was O'Malley.

I supported Sanders in 2016 but would probably pick Webb over him today if everybody was on the ballot. But Bernie would be a close second for me, even today. Bernie 2016 was a truly special campaign to witness.

Voted for Bernie. No regrets, especially with how the election turned out.
