Are modern country artists who write their own songs common or rare?

I’m not Stu:
Sarah Buxton writes her own songs. Carrie Underwood also writes many of her songs. Are modern country artists who write many of their songs unusual?

Progressive Pessimist:
Probably not, it's the easiest kind of music to write:

"My girl is thicker than my pick-up truck
She'll come home with a prize-trophy buck
Drinks more beer than my old pop pop
Wears blue jeans from the tackle shop
Can barbeque like you never seen
I love my girl, she is my queen"

I just wrote that in two minutes.

MasterJedi:
Most write, or help write, some of their music but they mostly use about 20 different writers to do the work for them.

Add something "Patriotic" in there and maybe a dog whistle.

Forgot to mention boots also. That probably covers everything.
