Libertarian political scientist and substack writer.

I appreciate his defense of democracy and attempts to improve the American right wing as a whole, though some of his takes are a little unorthodox.

“A decade ago these people declared jihad against boobs. Gamergate was the opening shot in the culture war.” Name a more iconic two sentences.

This. I mildly agree with him regularly, but wildly disagree with him frequently enough for the latter to overshadow the former in my view of him. Whether that makes him a "HP" I don't know, though.

no lol, I've actually met him in person back when I was in LA. It wasn't for very long though and we didn't talk much. If I'd known he was that far gone I might have probed a bit more.

He's an open white supremacist who has managed to get published in mainstream outlets by claiming to "reforming" and whatnot. Something that would have been unheard of before the rise of the Alt-Right.

It’s kinda crazy how THG has this “nice guy FF” perception when he openly admires white supremacists like Richard Hanania and Steve Sailer.

His tweet about Sydney Sweeney was the only good thing he’s ever posted, and that’s only because it was a joke.

Probably the single contemporary political commentator with views most similar to mine (one of the very few people besides myself I've seen write that immigration and diversity are good because they make ordinary people less likely to support welfare states), although definitely much more focused on, and much more strident about, race and identity issues than I am. The debate/exchange of essays with Diana Fleischmann about what to do about words which have strong connotations was fascinating as a rare case of an issue I think about often being actually debated in political media (though I think I am a bit closer to Fleischmann's position, Hanania definitely had a point).

The obsession with Sydney Sweeney is silly, and presumably meant mostly to get more clicks.

Of course he has a perfectly coherent ideology; here's an article decrying it. Reading it makes me think that I am something similar, but much more moderate -- of the 5 key points quoted, I completely agree on 3 of them (2, 4, and 5), although I think point 1 needs many caveats and is very incomplete as written, and having studied genetics I think point 3 is "not even wrong"; there is no 'dominant force' in human variation.
