Median swing voter:

- Blames Trump for border deal collapse
- Still says Trump would be better on the border as president
- Voting for Biden over Trump though

The median swing voter isn't currently saying they'll vote Biden over Trump.

I don't understand the point of focus groups when it comes to assessing something like this. Across all polling this cycle there's probably something like n = 1,000,000 supporting the idea that immigration is a winning issue for Trump. Why would a sample of 20 people from a zoom call add anything to our understanding?

I understand that's there some richness in a focus group that you don't get in a poll, but their continued use in politics and media interest in them feels like a McLaughlin Group-esque, Stone Age type of analysis.

Are there even many swing voters? Some might say of themselves they are, but in reality lean one way or the other.

It's basically so journalists can be lazy and write sweeping articles off of literally 10 people.
