Yeah, we know that Trump used to keep a book of Hitler's speeches by his bed and regardless of whether or not he read them, or has ever read anything in his life, he does seem to have a fascination with dictators and frequently makes overtures to people who like dictators and want him to be a dictator. Maybe I'm just being a woke liberal here, but I've never voted for anyone who repeatedly made jokes about becoming a dictator and I can say pretty confidently I never would vote for anyone who did/does that.

Unseemly, but this is Trump, so using an aide's book to boost his standing among MAGA voters shouldn't really be surprising.

I have some questions about this claim.

1. Would anyone find it strange that a President who supposedly praised Hitler (a) had a Jewish son-in-law; (b) had a number of Jewish advisors and staff members during his time in office (and likely long before in his business career) and (c) even went on to do what the three previous Presidents said they would do but didn't carry out in moving the American embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem?

2. The bigger question I have is, given the media treatment of Trump and the tendency of media leaks, wouldn't some reporter have discovered and used this long ago? Or for that matter, wouldn't an oppo team for a rival candidate in either a primary or the general election have done some opposition research and then used against Trump?

To be fair, Hitler DID some good things.
E.g. killing himself.

No, given that people in his orbit being of some type of race or descent has never stopped him from being racist. I.e., he had black people in his cabinet. That didn't stop him (and still doesn't to this day) from him saying racist things about black people.

He probably just meant Trump and got them mixed up. It's easy to make that mistake.

Trump's affection is basically down to "he's really strong and no one questions him." He loves dictator vibes. You could probably get him to say the same about Stalin or Mao if you asked about them. Trump likes strongman dictator vibes, not necessarily specifics like anti-Semitism.

1. Is Thomas Jefferson less racist because he f***** Sally Hemings? Does every anti-semitic thing Richard Nixon said not count because he was a "friend to Israel" and appointed Jews to his administration? Is it not entirely possible if not probable that a person as cynical as Donald Trump would be perfectly capable of pandering to Jews in public and hating them in private?

2. This is just textbook whataboutism.

At the end of the day, Trump's own ex-wife has said he kept a copy of Mein Kampf to read from. And he hasn't even totally denied it, obfuscating about some BS or another but never saying no. He uses the "vermin" line to describe leftists which is famously Adolf Hitler's - and btw he was also describing leftists.

Could you imagine if Barack Obama was caught reading from Mao's Little Red Book or praising Vladimir Lenin, just how irate Republicans would be. But that never happened except in their delusions and fantasies. Instead, their President has repeatedly praised both contemporary and historical fascists and all we get is whining about "media bias"...

That's not gonna cut it with anybody who isn't already in the cult.

Someone needs to tell him that Hitler was a loser. And Trump doesn't like losers.

Alright, let's get the talking points out of the way for the blue avatars:

"Trump never said this.

But even if he did say it, it was out of context.

But even if it wasn't out of context, he was probably joking.

But even if he wasn't joking, it's still not as bad as when Democrats did x."

Yes, because Biden is struggling to win the crucial swing states of New York and New Jersey, right?
