It's a big issue in the halls of congress, but neither Trump or Biden want to campaign for supporting or ending aid. For such a major thing, it doesn't seem to be getting a lot of attention on the trail.

It was one of the major topics in Biden's quasi-campaign speech State of the Union address.

Trump's allies railed on Haley for supporting Ukraine aid. Trump himself hasn't done so (it's still a little unclear what he plans to do about Ukraine aid), but his allies have made an issue of it

Americans don't care about foreign issues unless it directly affects them

Biden knows it's a winning issue for him, but he doesn't want to overly-politicize it while additional aid is still making its way through Congress. Trump wants to politicize Ukraine aid, but is probably being told it's not a winning issue for him.

What? It's been widely reported that he will completely cut it off. There are multiple threads about it across the different subforums! The Trump supporters here have replied to those threads agreeing with him!

Idk the way I interpreted he was pissed at Congress for not passing more aid directly. But it doesn't appear like he is going to run on it during the campaign.

I mean even in 2022 Ukraine wasn't even a noticeable campaign issue either.

Yeah, this has largely been true since the end of the Cold War and applies to other Western countries as well. Foreign policy rarely decides elections.

Ukraine was literally the first thing Biden talked about in his SOTU campaign launch speech.

Again SOTU is primarily an address to Congress not a campaign rally. Biden isn't going to swing states and talking about Ukraine in his events there.

I remember Obama did a good job doing both. The first 10 minutes were for the American people. Than the rest of the speech was clearly addressing congress. He would talk about America's place in the global order or economic prinicpals. As a kid it was cool, it made me feel part of the political process and hearing about government functions. I knew most adults had since turned the TV off

Which was something. You'd think it was the State of the Union, not State of the Ukraine, hah!

It is, and should be, but it just doesn't move votes or motivate.
