It's sad but sometimes an amputation is needed to preserve the rest of Europe from the horror of Putin. Resources spent in Ukraine can be better used ensuring Putin doesn't gain an inch of soil anywhere else. Obama and Biden failed to prevent Russia from taking over Ukraine but we can make sure this doesn't happen ever again from a fresh start.
It's sad but sometimes an amputation is needed to preserve the rest of Europe from the horror of Hitler. Resources spent in Czechoslovakia can be better used ensuring Hitler doesn't gain an inch of soil anywhere else. Chamberlain and Daladier failed to prevent Germany from taking over Czechoslovakia but we can make sure this doesn't happen ever again from a fresh start.
The problem is nuclear war exists now so we cannot just send troops over like its the 1930s. Also LOL if you think Putin is as bad as Hitler.

ROLFLMAO if you really believe a threat must be "as bad as Hitler" before America even provides military supplies and financial aid.

I think eastern Ukraine is a lost cause but western Ukraine can still be preserved.
Putin will never let Ukraine join NATO in any shape way or form. He might not want to cease western Ukraine the same way as Crimea or the Donbas though.

If you want to bring an end to the war through a negotiated deal then you should support aid as well . One of the biggest myths is that our foreign aid is charity when no it’s a tool that also gives us leverage which could be used to get a deal if you wanted to .

If you want to criticize Biden for having too  unrealistic goals then that’s one thing but that’s very different than criticizing the aid itself .

Putin will have to negotiate when he starts being in retreat. At this point he's on offensive or a stalemate at best, so there's no incentive for him to lift a finger until all his demands are met. Most important in the median run is putting Ukraine in the position to destroy the bridge between Russia and Crimea, which is used for tons military supply by the Russian Army. Losing that route would be a massive blow.

Or if you are able to actually cause a major economic problems for Russia . If you do that then you could bring him to the negotiating table then as well because then the Russian elite would demand that he negotiate an end to the war . Currently , it’s probably the opposite as if he does negotiate the elites probably get him removed from power .

If Republicans made clear that they would support Ukraine and that Putin can't just run out the clock to January 2025, he would have a much stronger incentive to make concessions. Dictators respond to public signs of weakness and wavering commitment, just as they respond to strength and clear red lines.
