Laken is not a common name so its understandable him not getting the pronunciation right. It could be pronounced LAWKEN for all we know.

He said Linkin, as in Linkin “Park” Riley.

Our ears are used to hearing about the coach Lincoln Riley and went there. He kinda said "Leakin'" though, but I don't think there was an N in the first syllable if you listen closely.

I don't think he did that? His pronunciation is often a bit weird (sounds he he said something between Laken and Leakin') but if our ears weren't already used to hearing about Lincoln Riley the football coach, I don't think our brains would have gone there.

I just listened a couple more times with an open mind and I really don't think there's an N in the first syllable.

He said Lincoln but intended to say Laken.

Bro has a speech impediment and is 81. If you want to make a big deal about how he pronounced Laken, sue him.

This is exactly why I believe Biden will win. If this nitpicking is all people could find wrong with his speech then his opposition is pretty doomed in making a legitimate case against him.

I was going to dismiss this as a phony scandal but if Laken’s OWN MOTHER heard “Lincoln” then Biden’s in a whole lot of trouble.

Sounds like she was going to be pissed no matter what, so he’s not in any trouble whatsoever.

I agree in principle, but there was a lot more of cringe moments than just his predictable indifference to Laken Reilly's murder. This isn't nitpicking. Nitpicking was when Republicans attacked Obama for the tanned suit. This is is much, much, much more of a real issue that everyday Americans are talking about.

Republicans wouldn't care if it was anyone else who committed the murder.

Most everyday Americans are probably not talking about this outside of Georgia and partisan conservatives.

Laken and Lincoln sound almost indistinguishable to me, especially from an accent like Biden's. It's obvious that Republicans are disappointed that they failed to use this murdered girl's corpse as a political tool, and this is a desperate attempt to keep using her. Very disgusting and I would not be able to live with myself if I was them.

You're right. If it were a white or black American citizen who was native born, I'd say it was a freak chance of fate. She was in the wrong place with the wrong person.

But she wasn't killed by an American. She was killed by an illegal dredge of society that should've never been let into this country by any means. Which means that this was 100% preventable.

Do you know any apolitical everyday people? Apparently not. Because this is a huge controversy right now.

I know tons, and none are discussing this. It’s a huge controversy for certain conservatives.

People who watch Fox News everyday are not apolitical. Its not the biggest story. I still bartend on the weekends and inspect several construction sites during the week. The biggest story this week in the metro is the six flags brawl.

I do and I haven't heard anybody talk about it. To be fair though, this has been true of pretty much every Breaking News story over the past 10 years other than COVID. Once traditional media died, we stopped getting these news stories that could capture the whole nation's attention.

I feel terrible for her parents and will not criticize them for any way they grieve and/or play the "blame game." That doesn't mean that their opinions should be able to change of influence national policy, of course.

Sounded like Lincoln to me, he may have never seen it in print and misheard it, or he may have misspoke, he scrambled a lot of words last night.

Which "everyday Americans" are talking about this? Your right-wing social media timeline is not all of America. And there is no such thing as a "tanned suit" because a suit cannot be tanned, it's a tan suit. A tanned suit? I would laugh at that if it was so horribly ignorant.

He read the pin and said Laken, it kind of sounded like Lincoln, but he is always stumbling on words. I listened again and could hear both Laken and Lincoln. This is clearly a pathetic attempt to generate a controversy out of a nothingburger. As others said, they couldnt be mad at him for not mentioning her, so they had to deflect to this being their argument. Pure idiocy.
