The government should not be able to shut down Fox News. But would I shut it down if I could? Absolutely. If I had all the money in the world and could buy Fox News, dismantle it, and sell it for parts, I would do that.

As we're seeing with Tik Tok, you should have included the option of having the non American Murdoch family have to sell Faux News to an American owner.

Certainly if Republicans in Congress/government vote for potentially shutting down Tik Tok they can't have any principled opposition to Faux News being shut down.

If I bought it, it seems like I'd get more political influence by tweaking the talking points to eventualy change how Republicans think about certain issues or new situations. If it got shut down, odds are the demand would just go to somewhere even worse.

Interesting, Murdoch actually became an American citizen 10 years before starting Faux News.

As the only way I could realistically shut down Fox News is if I had corporate power over it (the government will never do that), it might be more useful to society if I gradually moved it towards being a legitimate news outlet instead.

I don't think the State should shut it down, but if I had the money to buy it and shut it down, I would.

No, and it's unconstitutional to boot.

Run it on a delay with a fact check.

#GOP4slaveryreparations #GOP4BLM (in both senses) #GOP4GreenNewDeal #GOP4ESG

Better yet we could just bring back the Fairness Doctrine.

No, and as long as there is demand for it, there is little I can do about it anyway.  Although I was hoping Rupert Murdoch would appoint his more liberal son James instead of Lachlann as head of Fox Corporation (and therefore the Fox News Channel).

They would just move to OAN, or Trump TV would finally become a thing (if Trump had business acumen, he would have done that rather than the presidency).

I would not shut down Fox News if I could, but I would require higher levels of journalistic integrity and force them to issue corrections when they get something wrong or INTENTIONALLY mislead. The correction requirement would be forced to be made on the same show the wrong claims/stories/etc. were made on. This would force their viewers to here how often they are wrong if they do not change, or make them stop "reporting" on extremely misleading or inaccurate information if they think it is costing them too much money or making them appear too dishonest because of the amount of corrections they are constantly reporting.

The corrections would also not allow half-baked corrections.

Even the Wall Street Journal can actually have effective peer review. I'd shut it down, or at minimum, put it under new ownership. I am okay with a center-right news network, but it'd have to have some integrity. For instance, disagreeing on tax policies I can see, but talking about a "war on Christmas" or complaining about Lizzo's music(for racist reasons, not standing up for the dancers) would not be allowed on there.
