What does this tell about Trump's Hispanic strength?

The Trump part is irrelevant. Haley is a terrible candidate outside of the Beltway Bubble.

What it does show is Biden's problems with working-class communities of color. Again, Democrats are sticking their heads in the sand. Some dude named Armando Perez-Serrato got 26% in Zapata County. It's the same thing with Uncommitted in Minnesota and you're shout down for ringing the alarm bell.

Allred's anemic performance there indicates a wider discontent with an increasingly liberal, white, Austin party in Texas.

IDK I don't think it's just select groups of Latinos that are moving right at this point.

The biggest non-Biden democrat was a guy literally campaigning on having Trump killed. Make of that what you will.

The anemic support has to do with not being a competitive D Prez primary he isn't down 12 he is tied with Cruz and have confidence he will win, but it's wave insurance with FL in case Hogan and Justice both win

CA had a competitive S primary that's why so many voters came out, ALLRED was assured the nomination Schiff had Porter and Lee to compete with. But, voters were mad that RFK jumped ship and ran Indy instead D and no Prez primary

Who also wanted to get rid of asylum while being solidly left on most other issues. The RGV is overwhelmed by Biden’s border crisis. That is probably the big issue.

More proof that Trump's most loyal supporters are not rank & fire Reps.

I think its wrong to look at this as Left/Right and more about culture. Tejanos are prideful and the Texas Democrats have been their party. They were happy to share it with white ranchers and African Americans in Harris/Dallas, but the center of gravity has begun to massively shift to Colorado/California style white(and culturally) adjacent voters in the greater Austin area.

The border is a symptom of that. Namely evidence the Democratic party is not "their" party anymore.

Henry Cuellar is pretty much the only elected official who represents that demographic and he keeps being a target of internal purges.

I mean they are a minority within the party, but they are very clearly not valued.

This also explains why the protest vote was much stronger down-ballot for Senate than for President as it is really about the Texas Democratic party.

A warning sign for Biden but I bet a lot of these protest voters were Trump 2020 voters anyway.

Honestly it’s pretty hard to tell. RGV is weird region when it comes to primaries:

Firstly a disproportionate share of Hispanics in these border counties are registered Ds, even though Ds never get those lopsided margins in the GE. I think there are quite a lot of registered Ds here because of local politics even if federally they are lean R voters.

Secondly, RGV voters always have a tendency to heavily favor people of Hispanic surname, even if they’re a no-name candidate.
