When all is said and done, it looks like he'll end up with 70% which is by far his worst primary.

His underperformance mostly comes from metro MSP. Some of this can be explained by Somali protest voters in MSP. However, this is nowhere near enough to explain his larger underperformance. At face value, MN is otherwise a state that's a pretty good demographic fit for him - very white, decently college educated, older, highly politically engaged, ect. I would've thought large margins in MSP suburbs would easily cancel out any Somali and Arab protest votes simillar to what happened with the rest of Wayne County, MI outvoting heavily Arab Dearborn.

Also unlike MI there was no serious effort to have people vote "uncommitted"

What happened?

I feel like precinct results for some of the core MSP counties would really help answer this question so plz post if you find them.

Not sure why you keep saying this; there was. There was chatter over the last week of people pushing it the hardest in MN and then CO (though CO harder since a lot of people already voted.) They spoke about it many times on the live coverage last night.

I wonder how much that is related to Gaza? I really don't get why there are so many young people of non-Arab descent engaged in this and not over Ukraine or other conflicts?

Is it really that hard to understand? Almost every day for 5 months now, I get to open my phone and watch neighborhoods get flattened and kids getting blown to pieces. You don't have to be some internet-poisoned pro-Hamas leftist to be upset about this.

It's more like they pretend Biden has a button on his desk to stop it. At the same time, it seems young people are not as upset about Hamas using these kids as human shields. And if we're talking about the horrors of war, why not protesting for Ukraine aid? I think Eastwood is not totally wrong with regard to some leftists, viewing Israelis as white oppressors. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Israel is doing everything right - far from it - but we should look at the entire issue more differentiated.

I mean, you could literally say the same thing about Ukraine. We were also inundated (and still are) with constant videos and photos of that catastrophe too. But the same people are - and have been - completely silent on that issue. Do neighborhoods and kids only matter in Gaza and not Ukraine?

I think NC's uncommitted vote comes down to residual conservadems mostly. Just look at Robeson County uncommitted got 37% of the vote and the county is not remotely a liberal bastion and has a negligible Arab population.

LOL at anyone who thinks the uncommitted in Robeson or the RGV who thinks this is Gaza related.

I will say as someone who follows Ukraine intimately that it's been much easier for civilians to get away from the hottest combat zones in Ukraine (at least in the past 22 months or so) than in Gaza. "Fortunately," most of the fighting in Ukraine now is in rural areas and abandoned towns rather than densely populated urban centers like Gaza. So even as someone who is very much of the "Don't forget to support a free Ukraine!" persuasion, it's true that there's a lot less visible civilian suffering there now.

While he is a bit of a joke, I also think it's important to not overlook the Dean Phillips home state factor here. 7.8% statewide is enough to impact the results as far as things like Biden's topline numbers go and is a uniquely Minnesota situation that wouldn't have shown up in Michigan or other places.
