It'll be easiest to put blame on the candidate i.e. too old, than attributing it to Americans drifting away from the party and its policies. Voters drifting away from the party will definitely be a factor in Biden losing, immigration especially. Nobody in the party seems to really want to make the shift on immigration even though the issue has fueled Trump's rise and driven so many voters to the GOP.
