What is the reach? The Times published a story without vetting it's sources. It's the same thing as Biden supporter misrepresenting themselves as Trump supporter and talking about his mental state to a newspaper, it's a misrepresentation period.

Why are people being dense about this? The mans social media is more than just two Trump tweets. It's clear he's not an Independent, and if he was a Trump fan, he likely was never a Biden supporter. The issue here is that NYT presents these people as fair and honest actors when often, the people they're claiming are "Independent" (code for in the middle) are often very partisan.

It's the same thing as how MSNBC and NBC have both been caught doing 'voter panels' with people who have been found out later to be hard partisans/activists, despite the show presenting them as just "an average voter."

It's bad and tacky journalism. NYT has a narrative, and they find people to support it. This guy may literally be a registered Independent, but he's clearly not what they're trying to make him out to be.

It’s better than assuming he is lying just because you want to discredit a poll so it makes you feel better. He did not really support Trump the few months before the election.
