TX-GOV 2026: Abbott plans on running for fourth term

Governor's overstaying their welcome usually creates the best scenarios for the opposing party to win. Mario Cuomo & Scott Walker come to mind.

I hear you about Scott Walker but he only ever won by single-digit margins in one of the swingiest states around and was himself only unseated by a very narrow margin in a year when D's had everything else going in their favor.

I would stake generously on Abbott winning comfortably again in 2026 regardless of the national environment.

I think he wins again but it's narrower. A lot of his crossover support edoded in 2022 despite Dems investment basically nothing against him
