This is a longer term problem than most Republicans think. Trump himself will either be dead or completely disabled within the next four or five years at most, but the Trump family will try to continue the scam for a long time after that happens. The short term gains of normalizing Trump will probably not outweigh the damage he's done to the conservative movement, whatever that even is anymore, long term.
