I love hearing about people's "dream cabinets" or "fantasy cabinets". Who would you like to see taking over the executive departments, if your candidate of choice wins the election?

Mine, for a second Biden term, would be:

State: Russ Feingold
Treasury: Katie Porter
Defense: Tim Walz
Attorney General: Preet Bharara
Interior: Charles Sams III (or keep Deb Haaland)
Agriculture: James McGovern
Commerce: Maria Contreras-Sweet, Fmr. Small Business Administration head
Labor: Jennifer Abruzzo, NLRB General Council
HHS: don't know yet
HUD: Diane Yentel
Energy: Njema Frazier
Education: Howie Morales (Lt. Gov of New Mexico)
Veterans' Affairs: Anthony Brown
Homeland Security: Margaret Huang, CEO of Southern Poverty Law Center

Enough with the Feingold worship lol (he's long retired now too, and in his 70s), and Porter is unprepared.

State
Anyway, Blinken had been good until Israel. Maybe Chris Murphy? He's young and has potential, built a solid record, from the Foreign Relations committee.

Justice
Garland should go, and Doug Jones to replace him.

Defense
Defense Secretary had been good until these health issues. Let's get someone younger, and maybe the first female Defense Secretary. Maybe Tammy Duckworth, unless her seat seems a tossup? Jack Reed has long been prepared for this too.

Treasury
Yellen has done a good job afterall and should stay (just the admin messaging has been off, not her). But maybe she'll want to retire.

Interior
Haaland should definitely stay. Unless she's ready for and wants one of the bigger cabinet roles.

Health & Human Services
Becerra should go, he's done nothing. Pick one of the good (competent & transparent) state health secretaries during COVID. I liked Nicole Alexander-Scott.

Stay or Rotate
Buttigieg should stay or try out another department. Same with Raimondo, Granholm, McDonough, Cardona, and Marcia Fudge.

Veterans
Maybe Gillibrand for Veterans if McDonough retires and she wants out of the Senate? Could also be good for Duckworth but she'd probably want something more prominent like Defense or State for any future ambitions.

Agriculture
Viilsack needs to move on already lol. Let another Democrat have a turn, it's been 16 years.Get a rural noncompetitive Governor or House representative in here.

Good for open spots
Maybe give Tim Kaine something to do, somewhere.
Warren, Wyden, and Markey could be good choices for any open spots too.

Labor long-shot
Sanders for Labor? If he can survive nomination, and retire on this note.

Biden's cabinet is mostly fine.

Doug Jones should finally be Attorney General though. In case Austin is unable to carry on, I'd like the idea of appointing a woman to lead the Pentagon. Maybe Kathleen Hicks, as she has been stepping in for him already. Other than that, Torres-Small should be hired to Agriculture Secretary and Vilsack retire.

I hope Tony Blinken stays on, he's doing an excellent job. And maybe Mayor Pete can get a higher ranked position?
