Former Hillary Clinton adviser Philippe Reines said that scarcity of engagement is what prompts a media firestorm when the president does ultimately have a slip up, as he’s prone to do. Trump, who at 77 is just four years younger than Biden, repeatedly makes gaffes of his own. But they often don’t gain as much traction because of how visible he is in the media.

I reject this premise given that Trump is visible only in being spoken about, but not appearances. His appearances and rallies have been much less this time around than 2016 or 2020.

This also ignores that Biden *is* visible constantly - but the press usually doesn't care to cover it - *unless* he slips up somehow.

People want to believe the worst about Biden. Not Trump. What does that say?

Because Trump’s whole schtick basically involves being a real-life cartoon character: he’s been that way since the 1980s. His gaffes make people laugh. Biden’s gaffe’s make people wince

As much as you want to strain to try to characterize Trump as mentally infirm (this is your 2nd thread in 2 days, so you’ve moved on from the daily anti-Haley threads to the daily Trump gaffe threads) … [see: see: https://talkelections.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=581979.msg9380023#msg9380023 ]) …these attacks on Trump’s alleged mental decline don’t work because Trump looks vibrant and moves robustly whereas Biden looks halfway in the grave

Girl you need to stop obsessing over how many threads everyone does. No one needs you tracking them. Enough.

It's TIME now, too. It's interesting to me how so many journalists now are pushing this exact same idea. Almost as if it's some pre-cooked up defense they come up to defend the lack of coverage around Trump:

But while Trump has a habit of bulldozing through outlandish remarks at every rally he holds, the frequency of his public appearances may lessen the impact in the minds of voters of any of those statements. Meanwhile, some voters have the impression that Biden is dodging the public.

“When you look at access and transparency to the public, you do see a difference,” says Scott Strunc, a Republican small-business owner from Omaha who backed Trump in 2020 but says he won’t vote for him again. “There's not a hesitancy by Trump, but there seems to be a protection of President Biden.”
